The introduction should clearly state the essential background information
(relevant literature), research problems, objectives, hypotheses, and purpose or impact of
the study.
This should provide sufficient background information on the problem addressed,
the current level of knowledge, the aims of the study, and the hypotheses tested. This is to
allow the readers to understand the purpose and significance of the study. Cite references
wisely to provide the most salient background rather than an exhaustive review of the

For well-established methodology, cite articles where those protocols are described and
include sufficient information to be understood independent of these references.
