ANALOG
POLYGRAPH
In an analog polygraph, the displaced
air acts on a bellows, an accordion-
like device that contracts when the
tubes expand. This bellows is attached
to a mechanical arm, which is
connected to an ink-filled pen that
makes marks on the scrolling paper
when the subject takes a breath.

POLYGRAPH
Polygraph is one kind of electronic
instrument, which record the changes
of many physiological parameters
such as skin conductance, respiration,
finger pulses and cardiovascular, etc.
it can be used to research and detect
the tested person's psychology
behavior.
FOUR MAJOR COMPONENTS
OF POLYGRAPH
1. CARDIOSPHYGMOGRAPH COMPONENT
2. PNEUMOGRAPH COMPONENT
3. GALVANOGRAPH COMPONENT
4. KYMOGRAPH COMPONENT
CARDIOSPHYGMOGRA • it was designed to
detect changes in
PH COMPONENT the blood pressure
and pulse rate of
the subject
• it can record
changes of systolic
blood pressure and
pulse rate of the
subject
• it is made up of
the following:
CARDIOSPHYGMOGRAPH
COMPONENT
1. Blood pressure cuff – which is attached to the upper
right arm of the subject, slightly above the brachial
artery.
2. Sphygmomanometer – which is utilized to indicate the
amount of air pressure inflated in the system.
3. Pump bulb assembly - which is inflates air into the
system, also known as an air pump it has a hose
connecting the blood pressure the recording pen.
CARDIOSPHYGMOGRAPH
COMPONENT
4. Resonance control unit – which is used for reducing or
increasing the amount of air pressure to reach the brass
bellows and thus reduce or increase the amplitude of pen
excursions.
5. Centering control- which is used to provide adjustment
of the tracing so that the composite records pattern would
be on the guideline.
6. Vent – provide the means by which air in the system can
CARDIOSPHYGMOGRAP
H COMPONENT
Pump - pneumatic connection for hand pump used to inflate subject cuff.
PARTS OF POLYGRAPH
INSTRUMENT (STOELTING)
Mechanical Cardio Switch – disengages mechanical cardio module from pneumatic system for low pressure electronic
cardio operation
