Dear Students of CAL2301 and CAL2307,

Good day! We would like to draw your attention to the CAL Union Seniors Ball event, which is
currently scheduled to happen on 20 June 2024 (Thursday), 630-11pm at The Luna Hall. You may be
wondering on the reasons behind the combining of 2 cohorts for one Seniors Ball event. Well, do
allow us to briefly share on this.

For the last 2 years (2022 and 2023), it was very challenging for the organizing committee to gather
the necessary number of sign-ups for the Seniors Ball that were held in November. In fact, the
November 2023 edition had to be cancelled due to the extremely low response rate from target
participants.
So, then your next question could be, why not have the November ball earlier? The reason is
because the organizing committee are also preparing for examinations. The preparation period is
rather short and yet many aspects require quick response from students, staff and external parties.

Hence for 2024, after lengthy consideration, the College made the decision to combine the two balls
and hold it on a date that is most suitable for both cohorts to attend and thereby enjoy the
celebrations without the worry of the possibility of having another ball cancelled in November. We
decided that the CAL Union organize 1 Ball for the 2 graduating cohorts of the year, with the hope
that sign-up rates can be better.

Unfortunately, up to today, the sign up rate for the combined ball is still low. 11 students out of the
total 400+ students have signed up for the ball.

Hence, we propose that the balls be held separately as follows:

CAL2301 • Event date 20 June 2024.

• Venue to be determined depending on numbers and subject to
availability of venue.
o > 200 pax - The Luna Hall (proposed)
o < 200 – VIDA Bukit Ceylon (proposed)
o < 50 – On Campus (proposed)
• Attendees are required to pay the full amount upon registration
CAL2307 • Event date 13 September 2024
• Venue to be determined depending on numbers and subject to
availability of venue.
o > 220 pax - The Luna Hall (proposed)
o < 220 – VIDA Bukit Ceylon (proposed)
o < 50 – On Campus (proposed)
• Registration to be opened soonest possible.
• Attendees are required to pay a deposit of RM 100 per pax to secure a
dinner seat and if the event is cancelled, the deposit will be refunded.
We hope this provides you some clarity and assurance. Your attendance plays a huge role in making
these Student Union events successful. The CAL Student Union committee and sub-committee
members are working hard to serve all its members, which are you who’s reading this.

We urge you to show your greatest support to them as they tirelessly working on this in the midst of
preparing for major examinations. Should you require more clarification, you can reach out to the
