Instructions:
▪ This assignment is divided into two activities only
▪ It will be submitted individually to badelly2020@gmail.com not later than 13th
May,2024 (5:00AM)
▪ You can work together and make a deep research to accomplish this task

Activity 1:
o After getting what DNS is, Discuss about DNS (A record, CNAME record, PTR record,NS
record, MX record and SOA record and DNS server operation)

o Discus about mail server Vs Exchange server and mailbox

o Identify all possible prerequisites for exchange server installation

o Distinguish Hub Transport from Edge Transport Server

o Discuss about MAPI, SMTP, POP and IMAP as exchange server protocols and state how
they are used and implemented withing exchange server.

Activity 2:
o Create 3 virtual machines as DC1 using Windows server 2016, MAIL-EXCHANGE using
any windows server OS of your choice and client pc called CLIENT using any client OS of
your choice

o DC1 Should be running AD DS with DNS and DHCP services and has two user accounts
with user1@tumba.local and user2@tumba.local

o MAIL-SERVER should be added to the DC with name of tumba.local and running MS

Exchange services

o Configure MS Exchange on server called MAIL-SERVER so that it could handle all mail
requests from mail users located from active directory DC1 (Hint: Install MS Exchange
System Attendant, MS Exchange Directory Service, MS Exchange Information Store, MS
Exchange Message Transfer Agent, etc)

o Configure Microsoft Outlook and test whether the users are sending and receiving email each
other within an organization and test for sending email to public domain like gmail account
and vice versa (Hint: Send Connector NAT configured, OWA Outlook Web Access, etc).

o Create user account and call it your class followed by your name with 3 last digits of your
regNo (eg. ITAhozana605@tumba.local, ITBsamvura898@tumba.local)

o Please make a complete manual documentation in MS Word and take screenshots that
show step by step the implementation of this work and remember to put your names,
RegNo.and your class. Use your own create domain account (individual account) attach
your assignment then send it to email badelly2020@gmail.com and make sure that you are
able to see the reply contains marks feedback from the given gmail account.

✓ However, whatever you do, you need to install and configure MS exchange server and
MS outlook that is needed to send and receive email across the AD domain users
themselves and coming from in/outside of organization using client PC.
