Psycho education
It may defined as “ it is an effective treatment that improves that improve the
understanding of people about psychiatric disorders, guarantees active participation of the
patients and their caregivers in treatment and also helps them to accept disease and its
treatment”.

Actually it is a process to providing education and information to those seeking or


receiving mental illness and physical illness. It is not around the only subject but also involved in
family, peer, and groups. It is also used in medication as the uses, advantages and consequences.
It’s purposes to change a person and his family’s thought. Help them to accept the real situation
and help the subject to cope strategies.

It is also an aspect of therapy that offers information, awareness and support for people in
treatment for drug alcohol addiction or compulsive behaviors such as gambling, sex, addiction or
eating disorder. It is an effective therapy for people who struggle with mental health conditions
such as depression or anxiety. It provides an opportunity for client to ask questions even if the
subject is difficult or embarrassing.

Case Study

Identifying Information
Subject was 28 years old male. His qualification was B.com. His birth order is 1 st he has 3
sisters and he is only male in his siblings. He belongs to upper middle class socioeconomic status
and Urdu speaking family. His father was chief in navy and his mother is house wife.

Referral source and presenting complaints

The client is referred by clinical psychologist for the purpose of psychological assessment
and management of the presenting complaints of abdomen pain, anger problem, he felt body
pains he also had sleep problem, low appetite and felt his body have no energy also he
experience, nausea, restlessness.

Interviewing Information
According to subject his father forcefully admitted in Ehsas.e.zindhgi Hospital Faislabad
for the treatment of drug addiction. When he comes to the center for few days 2 to 3 weeks he
felt body pains he also had sleep problem, low appetite and felt his body have no energy also he
experience nausea and restlessness. He started to intake drug at the age of 19 years old.

When he was studying F.sc in Punjab College as reported by subject he started to intake
drug with his friends just for seeks of enjoyment and chill. Firstly he used hashish and marijuana
seeds for sedation to celebrate parties. He had been taking marijuana for 5 years. When he could
not take desire affect from these drugs. He started to take cocaine in heavy dose and became to
addict of it and later take ice in 5mg at daily routine.

It is also known as cannabis addiction or marijuana addiction, is defined in the fifth
revision of the DSM.5 and ICD.10 as the continued use of cannabis despite clinically significant
impairment.

Cannabis use and abuse has symptoms that affect behavior, physical, cognitive, and psychosocial
aspects of a person’s life. It may also agitation, bloodshot eyes, and challenges, in problem
solving.

Cannabis use is associated with comobrid mental health problems, such as mood anxiety.
How to psycho educate the client
Subject has Cannabis disorder due to the loneliness from parents and takes drugs. And
have some negative effects from family and society. He became anti social due to taking drugs.
In psycho education the client, we first of all try to diminish their negative thoughts about family
and society. We will try to see him positive effect and points. For betterment in his condition
give them proper medication. Shows him some videos about drug addiction and the least their
ending. Moderate short term improvements in substance use were associated with randomization
to impulsive lifestyle Counseling. The findings support the usefulness of providing psycho
education to outpatients with antisocial personality disorder.

How to psycho education the family members


In psycho education the family members to corporate with the client, in a sense that they
should understand the client and his situation. I suggest them to take him with as where you are
living and give them proper time and enjoyment.
