REQUEST FOR SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT IN CLASS TIMETABLING, 2023/24
(For Undergraduate Courses)
With a view to promoting quality learning and teaching, the Senior Management has
endorsed the implementation of the following guidelines in the scheduling of class timetable.
It is hoped that with these guidelines, students’ course choices could be maximized and
utilization of classrooms could be optimized, while academic staff’s research needs and
students’ learning could also be taken care of.
3. First and second year major required courses will be scheduled after 11:30 as far as
practicable.
4. Normally, full-time teaching staff cannot request for a designated "Research Day"
and/or indicate their unavailability for teaching in certain periods unless the request(s)
are fully justified on academic grounds. Nevertheless, attempts would be made
to schedule classes for individual staff on four days only in a week.
5. Classes for an individual staff will not be scheduled on the weekday afternoon (14:30–
18:20) reserved for the Faculty/School Board Meetings (i.e. Monday: ARTS;
Tuesday: BUS and SCI; Wednesday: SCA; Thursday: SOSC; Friday: SCM and
COMM).
7. Part-time teaching staff may request for special timetabling arrangements to fit into
their schedule.
