Introduction
Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral infection, transmitted by females of the species
Aedes aegypti and Ae. albopictus
Dengue is found in tropical and sub-tropical climates worldwide, mostly in urban
and semi-urban areas. Number of early cases may exceed 400 million out of a
population of 4 billion living in areas at risk

Infection usually causes flu-like illness, but occasionally develops into a
potentially lethal complication called severe dengue
There is no specific treatment for dengue/severe dengue, but early detection and
access to proper medical care lowers fatality rates from 20% to below 1%
Public health control depends largely on vector controlCOVID-19 Cod

In dengue-endemic areas in which transmission is occurring, diagnostics for
good-quality ROT dengue (high-quality RDTs and PCR) should be in place.

Health workers should monitor for warning signs and signs of severe dengue, and
they should be prepared for an increase in the number of severe dengue cases,
ensuring access to care to prevent unnecessary mortality

Devoting special sessions to raising awareness of COVID-19
and dengue in schools and colleges that have resumed classes
All activities should be in accordance with physical distancing, hand hygiene, and
other precautionary measuresControlling Dengue Outbreak
Essential steps to effectively control the outbreak
1) Emergency mosquito control to eliminate infected mosquitoes and to break the
transmission cycle by reducing mosquito population to extremely low levels
