Measurements 11 ½” / 20cm torso width

13” / 33cm shoulder to waist
6” / 16cm neck opening
5” / 12cm wide sleeves

Skeins: 2 ⋅ 100grs skeins (273yards/ 250 m each) used in double strand

To knit this jumper you start by making the front, leave an opening for the head,
join and knit the back; then knit the ribbed collar; then pick up stitches to knit both
sleeves in the round (as you would two-at-a-time socks); and finally join the two
sides. I prefer knitting in the round that is why I make the sleeves this way – you
could also knit them separately and flat, followed by sewing the sides.
I am not sure how clear I was able to make the collar opening (casting off of sts
and continuing with sides). If you have any edits or suggestions please let me
know! broughtupbywolves@gmail.com

I used my yarn double stranded (knitting from two balls of yarn) to make a very
chunky knit.

BODY
With US8, cast on 40sts (Italian long-tail cast-on).
r1 – r6: k1p1 rib
r7 – r70: alternate knit and purl in garter stitch.
r71 (opening for collar): k17sts, place next 6 sts in waste yarn, slip next 17 sts
into needle. You will continue on the opposite side (left side of jumper) with a
separate ball of yarn, and coming from opposite/ mirror direction toward center.
r72/r73 (from center out): Left side – k17sts, place first two sts in waste yarn;
turn work; k15sts. Right side – p17sts, place first two sts in waste yarn; turn
work; p15sts.
r74/r75 (from center out): Left side – k15sts, place first st in waste yarn; turn
work; k14sts. Right side – p15sts, place first sts in waste yarn; turn work; p14sts
r76/r77 (from center out): Left side – k14sts, place first st in waste yarn; turn
work; k13sts. Right side – p14sts, place first sts in waste yarn; turn work; p13sts
r78/79 to r88: on left side k13sts; on right side p13sts
r89: Right side – p13 to edge; break both left and right yarn. Make 14sts of
provisional cast-on and place between left and right sides onto a single needle.
This will join both sides at back of collar. Continue knitting starting from beginning
of left side in garter stitch.
r90-r172: garter stitch 40sts
r173-r178: k1p1 rib. Cast off.

COLLAR RIB
Pick up stitches from collar that are on waste yarn and pick up purl stitches along
collar. Rib in k1p1 for 5 rows. Cast off. Weave in ends.

SLEEVES
Find the center of the body part and place a marker. Pick up 40 stitches for each
sleeve (20 stitches to each side of marker).
Knit both sleeves at the same time in garter stitch the round (knitting and purling
rows alternately) using two sets of US8 needles; make sure to place marker in
the beginning of each row, and that this placing in under the arms since the
alternating knit and purl in the round will cause a jag that looks like a seam.
If you prefer you can also knit the sleeves flat and sew them later.
Sleeve length can be adjusted to child (I ran out of yarn so on my jumper there
are 24 garter stitch rows followed by 3 rows of k1p1 rib).

After completing sleeves, sew sides together. Weave in any remaining ends.
Block and you are done!
