5 Reasons for Strategic Partnerships | MBA Directors Community https://theexchange.aacsb.edu/discussion/5-reasons-for-strategic-partner...

An interesting conversation emerged during our last webinar regarding strategic partnerships

between educational institutions and private companies.

Educational technology to support planning, experiential learning and assessment has gone from
a niche, to a necessity in a very short period of time.

All organisations face resistance to change and obstacles with the uptake of new technology.

Internally academics hone their craft in their controlled environment. Externally on the other
hand, society, culture, the economy are all changing at an exponential rate.

It's crucial that decisions for universities in this climate make sense in terms of the:

1. The financial benefits for the institution

2. The pedagogical benefits for the students
3. The performance benefits for academics.
Add to this the 'gold rush' seen by Edtech providers who are newcomers and Universities don't
know who to trust.

On the other hand there are institutions looking to simply add-on some tech as a gimmick or
simply because 'everyone else is doing it'.

To simplify things consider the 5 questions that led LJMU to a strategic partnership with
Edumundo. No two institutions are the same and the same can be said for departments,
professors and the cohorts they teach.

Edtech should adapt to suit the whole learning environment not just one frame of it. It
shouldn't be the other way around.
