The Life Cycle of a Frog

Frog has always been an interesting creatures, because they can live both in land and in water! They
can live up to 15 years! Their life is in 4 stages: The egg, the tadpole, the froglet and lastly the adult frog.

The Egg Stage
•When the female is laying on a
branch in a pond, the male will
hop right onto the branch and
grasp the female’s limb using his
forelimbs. They will be in this
position for 4-6 hours. However,
depending on the species, frogs
can stay in this position for more
than months! Now after the period
of the them staying in the same
position, the female will hop right
into a river and lay her eggs right
there! And that is where the
lifecycle begins!
The Tadpole Stage
•After the eggs has hatched, the
tadpoles will stay still and not
move often. This is because they
are still absorbing nutrients from its
egg yolk sack. But after a week or
two, the tadpoles will start moving
a lot! This is because the tadpole
has finished absorbing its yolk sack
and ready to find more food!
Tadpoles usually eat algae, plants
and their egg!
The Froglet Stage The Adult Frog
•After 7-14 weeks, the tadpole will •After some time as being a froglet,
start losing its tail and growing the froglet will grow in size! And
limbs! This is because the tadpole finally shrinking its tiny little tail and
has gathered enough nutrients to ready to hunt for insects and
grow this feature. After that, the restart the whole life cycle!

frogs! Named froglets! These tiny
frogs can now breath on air! So
sometimes, the froglets can gather
their resources by hoping into
land!

• Eggs hatch into tadpoles and tadopoles grow into froglets.
• Froglet will grow in size, start finding other frogs to mate with and that re-start the life cycle of a frog
