1. Anglo-Saxon vocabulary stems from the Germanic languages spoken by the tribes who migrated
to Britain in the early medieval period, around the 5th century AD which eventually evolved into
what we now know as Old English. For example, words related to family, nature, farming, and
basic activities tend to have Germanic origins.
Graeco-Latin vocabulary refers to words that have their roots in Greek and Latin, the classical
languages of ancient Greece and Rome, respectively. Due to their use in science, philosophy,
law, medicine, and other fields.
2. Tier 2 words, in the context of vocabulary teaching, refer to high-frequency words that are
essential for understanding complex texts across various subjects or disciplines. These words are
considered general academic vocabulary and are crucial for academic success. Example of the
word : Analyze, Evaluate, Predict, Synthesize, etc. These words are central to academic
discourse and are often encountered in textbooks, articles, lectures, and classroom discussions
across different subject areas. Explicit instruction and practice with Tier 2 words can significantly
enhance students' academic language proficiency and overall comprehension of complex texts.

Experience

1. Since senior high school. My English teacher gave us some English readings from there language
arts began to be introduced and used as material for teaching English. because I majored in
languages so understanding English in my class was emphasized more.

2. For me, yes. beside we read the text we were told to write difficult words and then look up the
meaning and memorize each English word and its meaning to be deposited with the teacher
every meeting. usually 5-10 words per meeting. so it really honed my skills in reading, writing,
listening and speaking.

Reflection

1. The language arts curriculum aims to equip students with the essential literacy skills and
strategies needed to succeed academically and in their personal and professional lives. Through
a balanced and comprehensive approach to language and literacy instruction, students develop
the skills, knowledge, and confidence to communicate effectively, think critically, and engage
meaningfully with the world around them.
