The Legend of Sangkuriang

legend is said to explain the origin of Mount Tangkuban Perahu in West Java.

he returns home a rich man, but he is ashamed of his mother's poverty and denies her.
As punishment, Malin Kundang's ship is turned to stone. The tale is a cautionary story

The Story of Roro Jonggrang: This story tells the story of Roro Jonggrang, a
beautiful princess who is forced to marry a prince named Bandung Bondowoso.
However, Roro Jonggrang is not interested in the marriage, and she tricks Bandung
Bondowoso into trying to build a thousand temples in one night. When Bandung
Bondowoso is unable to complete the task, Roro Jonggrang destroys the temples and
curses Bandung Bondowoso to death. The story is said to explain the origin of the
Prambanan temple complex in Yogyakarta.
