1.
Introduction
This Configuration Setup Guide document contains the set-up or configuration tasks of Oracle Advanced Supply
Chain Planner (ASCP). The Configuration is documented outside the Packaged Application to capture the reasoning
or rationale behind the set-up choice and to provide for a backup for manual re-production of the set-up. This is
intended to be used by all process owners/business analysts involved with the package set-up. This document will
communicate the navigation and configuration tasks that were preformed for the configuration. This document is a
supplement to the ASCP Configuration Checklist and serves to provide more detail regarding setting up the
Planning Flexfields. Note that this document only contains the steps that warrant explanation for the particular
configuration setup task at hand; refer to the ASCP Configuration Checklist for an explanation of all the setup steps
in the recommended order of execution.List bullet

<Source Materials include the Oracle user and implementation guides, white papers and notes on new release.>
<Note to project teams: Please carefully review all information included in the Configuration Setup Guide,
evaluate if the setups are reusable at your client sites and make modification when necessary. Please complete the
setup rationale as pertinent to your client’s business requirements.>

2. Oracle ASPC planning

Flexfield configuration guide
The Create Planning Flexfields concurrent program creates new segment definitions in existing descriptive
flexfields to hold data that may be required for constrained and/or optimized planning. The program also populates
profile values with the value corresponding to the descriptive flexfield attribute number for each attribute (planning
parameter) created. Appendix A below shows the descriptive flexfields Oracle Advanced Supply Chain Planning
Implementation and User's Guide attributes that are required, the name of the attributes that are created, the
tables in which the data resides, and the profile options that correspond to each attribute.

Descriptive Flexfields are defined to capture the penalty cost data at the appropriate levels for independent
demand, items and resources. These penalties will be used for calculations in constrained and optimized plans.

Submission of the program will spawn eleven additional processes. These jobs compile the descriptive
flexfield views.

<In this table outline the Configuration tasks including the application and module name, the configuration task
that the setup guide outlines, the configuration steps involved in the setup and applicable prerequisites.>

Value Details
Application: Oracle Advanced Supply Chain Planning
Configuration task: Planning Flexfield Configuration
Configuration step(s): 1. From ASCP Advanced Supply Chain Planner Responsibility, launch Concurrent
Request “Create Planning flexfields”
In the job parameters; enter the flexfield attribute number to be used for each
of the flexfields. Remember to document the entries so that the results of the
job can be verified
2. After successful completion of the job, validate the results
Prerequisite(s): 1. Source instance ASCP patches must be installed
2. Instances must be defined, with database links created for multiple
instance environments

The following setup steps are presumed to occur using the Adavnced Supply Chain responsibility unless
otherwise noted.
