1. Introduction
Customers of Mercedes-Benz India have high expectations of the products they have bought. When they buy a vehicle,
they expect the highest possible quality. Maintaining this quality when the vehicle is on its way to the customer is the
aim of quality management in Mercedes-Benz India transport logistics. Mercedes-Benz India also expects this high
standard of quality from its service providers. This includes safe and non-damaging loading and transport of all Mer-
cedes-Benz India vehicles. These regulations form the basis for a trouble-free handling process. All parties involved in
transport are required to familiarize themselves with these instructions and to use them as the working basis for han-
dling vehicles. Other applicable national regulations are to be observed.
If any questions or a need for clarification should arise from these Mercedes-Benz provisions, please contact:

2. Work clothes
Regardless of the time of year or temperature, it must be ensured that the driving personnel are wearing clean and
suitable work clothes to avoid spoiling or damaging the vehicles.
This includes wearing long work pants and a T-shirts according to Indian weather conditions, regardless of the season.
(See illustration).
Buttons, open zippers, belt buckles and sharp objects in the outer packets (e.g. pens, tools, keys, etc.) are not permit-
ted during the loading process. Wearing rings and jewelry is also forbidden due to the risk of causing damage.
It must also be ensured that the loading personnel wear a safety shoe of ISI standards (Provided with a carbon steel toe
cap closed work shoe).
To ensure that the high standard of quality with which our products leave the plant is passed on to the customer, the
following instructions apply:
Caution: The engine is to be started on all vehicles before they are moved.
In the case of all vehicles that are not ready to be driven, the loading personnel must be contacted before the loading
process.
You can view a detailed and complete list of weights and dimensions for all Mercedes-Benz India products at:
Note: Further and detailed Handling Manual of each model can you find in the
Operations Manual Europe Vehicle Specific Handling Sheets

insurance company for survey. Normally nights deliveries are not encouraged or followed, in some rare case, the
transporter’s vehicle are parked outside the premises with the knowledge of the security personnel. The vehicle is
checked on the next working day and damage reports are generated if there is any.
When the car arrives the service provider has to check and mention it on the check sheet.
The damage is to be divided into transport damage, production defects and shortage (loose material, add on kit bag,
etc.) according to best judgment.
Once the service provider has taken the vehicle into their custody, entire movement of the car till handing it over to the
transporter, the entire responsibility passes to the service provider. Damage during loading is treated as transport
damage.
The transporter has to ensure that those vehicles are loaded according to the destination and size of the vehicle. The
vehicle leaves the plant either for an even or to the dealer. The following activities are carried out according to the
Standard Vehicle Check Sheet (SV CHECK SHEET) which is given below (Form No. C 7.1.3: FM 04).
If it is observed that the transport mode is deactivated, this is to be noted on the check sheet and reported to VPC.
Furthermore, if damaged or opened bags of loose parts are observed, VPC is to be informed immediately (do not recti-
fy).
When the vehicle arrives to the VPC from MB-I plant, CBU and event return then the following activities are carried out
according to the Check Sheet which is given below.
The visual control is to be carried out at a distance of approx. 1 m and an angle of 45 degrees to the vehicle.
During the visual check, the vehicle is to be checked for body or paint surface damage. This includes:
Checking the tyres and rims for mechanical damage and deformation,
checking whether wheel arches are damaged,
checking the vehicle surface (particularly bumpers, driver's door, exterior mirrors) for scratches and dents as
well as for dirt (e.g. hydraulic fluid, greasy residue, environmental influences such as bird excrement),
checking all windows, headlamps and/or rear lights for damage by stones or other mechanical damage,
checking the front and rear areas (front spoilers, rear apron, side skirts, exhaust trims) for signs of contact with
the road,
checking for dirt or damage in the vehicle interior, especially driver's door and driver's side.
"Procedure if damage has occurred" must be followed. Damage is to be reported to the VPC and noted down in the
check sheet immediately before the vehicle is moved by the accepting party. Later reports will not be entertained.
TPM:
before the vehicle is started; it must be ensured that the foot well protection in the interior is fixed correctly. If
this is not the case, this must be corrected before the vehicle can be moved.
TPM description
To provide an overview of the scope of TPMs, the currently protected areas are presented below.
6. Road Transportation
6.1. Loading and unloading by Road Transportation
6.1.1. General
To avoid any risk of damage when vehicles are being transported open/closed, the following driving instructions are to
be adhered to:
Dispatching:
The route selection to the desired destination is to be selected, taking the vehicle headroom into account (i.e. the max-
imum extent of height and width) to ensure that construction sites, bridges, tree-lined avenues or roadside structures
cannot impair or damage the load.
Note for passenger vehicles: Loaded transport vehicles must be parked on fenced- in, secured company sites belonging
to the service provider or on manned car parks/rest stops during the night, at weekends and on public holidays, but
also during the day during longer rest periods.
Driving-related effects:
The driving style must be adapted and must contain an element of foresight to ensure that driving-related effects (such
as flying stones) do not pose a risk to the cargo.
Note: All transporters (single and double-decker) are required to be fitted with a stone- guard above the wheels. Oth-
erwise, they are not suitable for transporting MB passenger vehicles due to the risk of damage.
6.1.2. Basic rules for driving and loading personnel at Mercedes- Benz India locations
The driving and loading personnel must be familiar with the instructions as laid down in the "General" chapter.
Caution: During the entire loading and unloading procedure the engine of the car transporter must be switched off; this
does not apply to operations using the hydraulics.
Transporting materials of any kind in the vehicles being transported and on the loading surface is expressly forbidden
or, in exceptional cases, is to be reed with VPC
The road safety of the tyres must be guaranteed. Any damage that arises is to be fixed immediately.
No hydraulic systems may show signs of leaking and the mechanical load equipment must be fully
functional.
Transport vehicles must always have suitable approach rails to avoid damaging the bumpers or the
vehicle underbodies.
The interior of the container must be provided with lights in order to assure the vehicles are loaded
and unloaded with proper visibility and to avoid damage.
All loading and unloading equipment as well as load securing equipment shall be stowed and secured
properly, and safe for road traffic.
In case of Trailer breakdown, transferring loads between trailers is forbidden, unless written permis-
sion is asked for and is accepted by MB India. Exceptions are laid out in writing in the haulage con-
tract.
The profile of the loading surfaces and the approach rails must provide a good grip but may not have sharp edges [see
fig.].
The side wall and the overhead of the transport vehicle’s container (Closed) must be cushioned to ensure that the driv-
er's door can be opened without damage and vehicles can be moved in/out or transported without any damage.
If vehicles are loaded, the car transporter must be equipped with stoppers to ensure safe transport.
The height difference and space for transitional areas must be adapted to the vehicles being loaded. When loading the
upper loading level, there must be as flat transitional areas as possible between the tractor vehicle and the trailer [see
fig. included] to avoid damage to the underbody and the spoiler.
The loading surfaces must be free of unattached and blocking parts (e.g. chocks, three-point tie-down straps with strap
controller, tools, bracket retainers, etc) [see fig.].
To guide while loading and unloading, the transporter must provide assistance with the driver. Loading and unloading
on the upper deck must be done very cautiously so as to avoid damages to the underbody parts. The first vehicle
should be driven inside and parked on the inclinable portion of the ramp. Lift the ramp to horizontal position so that the
total upper ramp is in horizontal position. Now this car can be further moved inside without any underbody damages.
The permissible chocks and the three-point tie-down straps with strap controller must be secured outside of the loading
surface. Otherwise, the three-point tie-down straps with strap controller and chock are to be removed from the loading
level. It is forbidden to hang the three-point straps with strap controller on the lanyard rail.
The stoppers are also handles with care in order to prevent from scratches especially when they are handling it be-
tween the vehicles. Generally they load and latch the cars individually one by one, which is the best practice in India,
especially for closed containers.
Vehicle documents are to be checked for correctness. The embossed chassis number must match the transport docu-
ment completely.
Major violations of these regulations will result in Mercedes-Benz India issuing an immediate ban on loading applicable
for all Mercedes- Benz India locations.
During the loading and unloading procedures for passenger vehicles and vans, the following is to be noted:
When driving onto the transport vehicle, walking speed must be maintained.
Furthermore, the conditions in the chapter "General handling of MB vehicles".
Vehicles with pneumatic suspension are always to be transported in the highest suspension position. The "Air-
matic" section of the relevant model chapter shows which vehicle models are equipped with Airmatic.
The following minimum clearances around the vehicles to be loaded must be adhered to (vehicle-specific clear-
ances must also be taken into account, however):
Furthermore, vehicles with manual transmission must be driven down from the truck under their own power. Letting the
vehicles roll down and braking them with the handbrake or even with the clutch pedal damages the vacuum pump and
may lead to failure of the brake booster.
Important: Specialist assistance is provided by the plant in question, the responsible vehicle preparation center or the
nearest Mercedes-Benz workshop.
All operating states in which un-combusted /or only partially combusted fuel can enter the catalytic converter are to be
avoided.
These include:
starting the engine by towing, pushing or rolling off transporters or ramps.
frequent consecutive attempts to start the engine.
extremely long operation of the starter motor.
switching off the ignition during the vehicle’s movement.
The three-point tie-down straps with strap controller are to be put on as follows:
The stopper (1/6 of wheel height) must be so designed that they do not cause any damage to the body when affixing
and removing. There must also be no damage as a result of insufficient clearance to floor assemblies and other vehicle
parts during the transportation.
Important: During transport, the load is to be checked, and the load-securing equipment is to be checked to see that it
remains in place.
When loading Vario vehicles, the load is to be secured in the same manner as with vehicles that are loaded backwards.
The vehicles must have both wheels of both axles chocked and lashed.
Important notes:
If a chock cannot be placed for technical reasons, a three-point tie-down strap with belt controller is to be affixed to the
axle.
AMG vehicles and vehicles with the "Avantgarde” equipment line may only be raised (stacked) with hydraulic
stacking rails.
Loaded transport vehicles must be parked on fenced-in, secured company sites belonging to the service provider or on
manned car parks/rest stops during the night, at weekends and on public holidays [see "Guidelines for storing in dis-
patch and store areas"].
6.2. The Height and length restrictions according to Indian Motor Vehicle Act 1996:
FOR HATCHBACK MODELS
GOVERNMENT OF INDIA
MINISTRY OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS
S.O.728(E), dated 18.10.1996.- In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (I) of section 58 of the Motor Vehi-
cles Act,1988 (59 of 1988) and in supersession of the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Surface
th
Transport S.O. No.479 (E), dated the 4 July, 1996, the Central Government hereby specifies that in relation to the
transport vehicles (other than motor cabs) of various categories detailed in the Schedule below the maximum gross
vehicle weight and the maximum safe axle weight of each axle of such vehicles shall, having regard to the size, nature
and number of tyres and maximum weight permitted to be carried by the tyres as per rule 95 of the Central Motor Ve-
hicles Rules,1989.
Truck Audit is controlled and monitored by the VPC. It is a decisive parameter in determining key performance indica-
tors (KPI’s).
The service providers are evaluated in accordance with the following aspects, among others:
Driver's demeanor
Vehicle condition
Vehicle handling
Observance of operation manuals
Cause: Rust
Procedure: Timely repairs, Once this has taken place, send more information about repair measures to
VPC.
If another reprimand is issued due to the condition of the truck, the transport vehicle will receive a ban on loading.
There is still the option of having a post-audit carried out in the plants by the auditors in question after registration. If
the auditor considers the condition of the truck to be OK, the existing ban on loading will be removed in the system.
All the Mercedes-Benz India vehicle which is been transported through the transporters are entered in the Truck Driv-
er’s register, it includes the details of the truck’s driver details, container number or license number along with the
number of cars being transported along with their model number.

7. Dangerous goods
When shipping complete vehicles in a container, the following conditions must be checked with regard to dangerous
goods at hand-over:
1. Engines, fuel tanks and batteries may not show any signs of leaks. If the battery is not accessible to the service
provider, and no leaks have been detected, the checker may assume that the terminal connections are fixed
securely and that everything is in correct order in general.
2. The fuel tank may not be more than one quarter full.
3. Dangerous goods that are required for the operation of the vehicle, e.g. fire extinguishers, compressed-gas
storage, airbags, belt tensioners, etc. must be stored safely in the vehicle.
4. Carrying dangerous goods that are not required to operate the vehicle, such as a replacement fire extinguisher,
is not permissible.
The following standards for dispatch and storage locations were developed to provide a uniform basis and guideline for
all service providers. They serve to maintain the quality of Mercedes-Benz India vehicles.
Plants (bushes and trees) are to be kept away from the parking areas (safe distance). Plants and trees are not desirable
near the fences as they may provide an opportunity to climb over the fence from the outside and make it more difficult
to monitor the fence (detecting damage or preparations to break in) from the inside. There must be a proper connection
to the road network (no gravel paths) and this must be free of trees.
All incoming and outgoing vehicle details are to be documented. Entry must be restricted to unauthorized persons.
There must sanitary facilities in the immediate vicinity of the loading place, or these must be installed.
Parking area must be cleaned regularly. The distribution area may not have any large puddles or potholes and must be
completely fitted with drainage.
Space markings
Parking bays
The parking bays are to be arranged in a fishbone or single-access arrangement and are marked and numbered on the
surface/shelters [cf. fig]. An area of 15 m² is to be provided for each vehicle with an aisle of 6.6 m. A parking bay
should have the dimensions 3x5 m (deviations are possible after agreement with VPC). An appropriate area is to be set
aside for larger models. Parking bays are to be avoided at lamp posts to avoid bird excrement and other dirt.
In mass turn-around areas such as vehicle loading and unloading area, block parking is allowed (cf. fig). These are areas
where vehicles are placed temporarily after being unloaded from the container (according to the principle of "first in,
first out") before they are sent to their final parking position.
Parking rows
The parking rows are to be defined clearly, e.g. by lines and an alphanumeric system indicated on the parking surface,
on the fence or on movable posts [cf. fig].
Illumination
The entire area, particularly the vehicle checking area, must be sufficiently illuminated [cf. fig] (1000 lx). Floodlights
along the fence are also recommended. The checking areas must be sufficiently illuminated. Lamp posts between vehi-
cles are to be avoided.
Obstacles
Curb stones and fenced enclosures are to be avoided or must observe a minimum clearance of 30 cm.
Security equipment
Due to the high concentration of goods that are often targeted by thieves, special security measures are to be taken
when setting up and operating these vehicle turnover areas.
To achieve effective protection, the planning and set-up of these surfaces have three important components:
mechanical securing (fencing etc.)
monitoring (electronic or with personnel)
organizational measures (checks, alarm pursuit…)
To be taken into account in a security concept and coordinated with one another.
Fencing
The main surfaces on which vehicles are parked, stored and turned around are to be provided with a boundary (fence or
wall). The boundary must provide sufficient resistance against being climbed over, crawled under or penetrated. An
assumption should be made that criminals will attempt a break-in without tools or with simple tools. Making a fence
opening large enough to allow a person to pass through or a vehicle to be driven through must be made considerably
more difficult or slow.
The entire site must be secured by a wall, a wire-mesh fence or a lattice fence at least 2 m high. [cf. fig below].
The fence fronts should be as straight as possible and therefore follow a clear line.
The fence routing line must be sufficiently illuminated overall.
The route of the plant fence (inside and outside) is to be kept free of anything that could enable someone to
climb over (such as trees).
The site layout and any plants must be designed in such a way that they do not provide potential intruders with
any cover.
When selecting the fence system, the desired level of protection is to be taken into account. Wire-mesh fences can be
very easily and quickly opened and overcome.
They are only suitable for sites with a low protection level.
Due to the low level of protection they offer, wire-mesh fences are to
be checked daily for damage (openings, broken or cut wires, etc.).
When new sites are set up or when existing areas are renovated or
expanded, fences offering a high resistance time are to be used.
IT Systems
TRACKING
All locations are defined in the Excel sheets and controlled by the service provider to ensure the location of the car in
stock. Source data of cars coming is collected from SAP and stored in Excel. Tracking system is also used to track the
containers which leave the plant and the dealers can keep a track on those containers. This ensures safety of the cars
until it reaches the dealers.
Parking management
Every car in stock in Mercedes-Benz India, the location must be maintained and they are parked in model vice in clear
space. This means that it must be clear at all times where each vehicle is on the site.
Discipline of Parking
The vehicles are to be parked neat l y in rows and parking bays [see fig]. Vehicles must be parked in the designated
areas as far as possible in variant vice or alternatively, in accordance with a different uniform system. The vehicles
should be parked according to the color vice for each variant.
After the vehicle has been parked, the following must be taken into account:
The vehicle must be parked in 1st gear or in the "P" position with the handbrake applied.
All electrical consumers must be deactivated.
No labels may be applied to the dashboard.
The windshields and other glass surfaces may not be marked, and particularly not be written on with crayons.
Windshield wipers are to be left in the basic position.
Bird excrement is to be removed from vehicles immediately.
With regard to key management, the chapter "General,
5. Key management (2. Key management during storage)" is to be followed.
At certain turnaround centers, Mercedes-Benz India reserves the right to issue instructions regarding the locking of
vehicles.
Vehicle approval
After vehicle approval, the vehicles are to be checked for completeness or for thefts in accordance with the "Vehicle
hand-over check" chapter ("Hand-over at vehicle dispatch", "Visual check" and "Completeness check"). In the event of
damage, the chapter "Damage handling" is to be followed.
Work instruction:
1. Drive vehicle over the course of 1 mile with 10 moderate to heavy brake applications.
Do not exceed a speed of 30 kmph.
2. Inspect the front and rear brake discs for evidence of corrosion.
3. If corrosion still exists, continue drive cycle with additional moderate to heavy brake applications,
until corrosion is removed
4. After 14 brake applications, allow the brake discs/pads to cool for 60 seconds in order to avoid damage.
5. Check if a pulsation is felt within the steering wheel/brake pedal after the drive cycles. If a pulsation is felt, all
brake discs and brake pads must be replaced. (just short before delivery to the dealer)
6. Check for a grinding/wire brush noise during braking or when driving slowly without brakes applied (most
noticeable when driving against a wall / noise reflection). Brake discs and pads have to be replaced if this type
of noise occurs.
7. Check tire pressure of all four tires and ensure that the tires have at least 50 PSI / 3,5 bar, while vehicle is
parked in storage.
Important hint:
For a warranty application it is required to do a battery test with the Midtronics tester and to create
A print out with the test result. This print out has to be added to the warranty claim.
The partly applied vehicle transportation protection tape has to be removed before, or on expiration date stated on
the transportation document.
All vehicles in outside storage should be washed at least monthly. Requirements see chapter: vehicle cleaning / wash-
ing
The following instructions are recommendations and must be agreed bilaterally with the marketing intermediary or
MPC.
The stipulations from the "General handling of Mercedes-Benz vehicles" chapter apply. Writing on the windshields is
also forbidden. The vehicle markings on the windshields may only be in the form of easy-to-unpeel stickers. Placing
papers or objects on the dashboard is to be avoided. The following care procedures as mentioned in the FORTNIGHTLY
maintenance activity check sheet (Rf . C7.1.3:FM 03) are to be carried out:
If adhesive residue remains on the paintwork after the "Don't open" sticker or the "blue pads" have been removed,
please follow this procedure:
Treat the leftover adhesive with an adhesive remover or stain remover. Either spray the product directly onto the resi-
due or apply it carefully with a sponge or brush, let it act for a short while and then remove it with a sponge or microfi-
ber cloth. Please also observe the appropriate product information. The products listed under the following link have
been tested by Mercedes-Benz India with regard to materials tolerance, work safety and protection of the environment
and can be recommended as being suitable for this usage.

a print out with the test result. This print out has to be added to the warranty claim
Attention!
In the High-voltage electrical on board system, voltages > 120 volts exist.
Risk of death caused by electric shock, burns fibrillation of the heart or cardiac arrest due
to electric shock can occur when touching components of the high voltage on-board elec-
trical system. The consequences of an electric shock may also only occur after a few
minutes. Therefore a doctor should be consulted in every case.
For Persons who wear electronic implants (e.g. cardiac pacemakers), it is strictly forbidden
to carry out any work on high voltage on board electrical systems.
Open lines and components of the high voltage on board electrical system must not be
touched under any circumstances. In particular this affects accident vehicles before the
high voltage on board electrical system is disabled.

After 3 weeks of inactivity, or if the State of Charge (SOC) of the HV-battery is below 25% (shown in the Instrument
cluster) the high voltage battery has to be recharged. There are 3 possibilities for charging the HV-battery, including the
12 Volt batteries of the hybrid vehicles.
Possibility 1: Charge the 12 Volt batteries by using the jump start terminal, located in the engine compart-
ment on the right side. (till the vehicle is ready to start, go on with possibility 2 or 3)
Possibility 2: Start the engine and keep it running for 15 minutes with idle speed (spec. HYBRID, HYBRID
PLUS)
Possibility 3: Start the engine and keep it running for minimum 5 minutes with 2000 rpm (spec. HYBRID, HY-
BRID PLUS)
Vehicle approval
After vehicle approval, the vehicles are to be checked for completeness or damage as per SVC’s DAN Document .If
damage occurs, the procedure is followed according to the work instructions.

E-Cell and fuel cell vehicles can only be jump started by trained specialist personnel.
The ignition must be switched off when working in the engine compartment.
Any manipulation of the ignition system is strictly prohibited.
Touching live parts may pose a danger to life.
In the case of ignition systems with an increased power rating, the conductive parts may not under any cir-
cumstances be touched.
When the ignition is switched on, there are high voltages in the entyre ignition system of all vehicles – both in
the components and the cable harness.
No jump-starting may be performed between the vehicles that are to be transported.
Prerequisite:
Jump-starting only takes place when the engine is cold and the catalytic converter has cooled down.
The engine may not be switched on if the battery has frozen. The battery must be thawed out first.
The battery booster cable shall comply with DIN standard 72 553 or ISO standard 6722.
The cross-section of the cable must be at least 25 mm2 for all passenger vehicle
Flexibility: A cable wound out of thick copper wire is invariably more rigid than a finer design. You must take in-
to account the fact that the insulating material hardens more in cold conditions.
It must be ensured that the terminal clamps are insulated. These must be completely made of plastic to avoid
short circuiting caused by inadvertent touching of metal parts of the vehicle. Only the contact parts at the tip
of the clamp are made of metal.
The booster battery must be over 12 volts.
Procedure:
The following sequence must be observed as, if it is not, persons may be injured, the battery may be destroyed or there
may be damage to the electrical systems of both vehicles.
1. Connect the first battery booster cable (red) to the positive terminal of the booster battery, and then to the
positive terminal of the discharged battery.
2. Connect the second battery booster cable (black) to the negative terminal of the booster battery and the other
end to the engine ground (engine block) of the vehicle you wish to start.
3. Start.
4. When removing the battery booster cables, remove first the black cable from the negative terminals and then
the red cable from the positive terminals.
Please note:
If the limit of 350 km in transport mode is exceeded, the mode switches to "permanently deactivated" and can then no
longer be reactivated.
If transport mode is active, the ignition position in the vehicles is monitored. If the key is in position 2 and the vehicle is
stationary for more than 10 seconds, the fanfare is activated. The fanfare can be deactivated by changing the key posi-
tion to 0 or 1 or by starting the engine (key position 3).
The external light only works when the engine is running. When the engine is started, the manual headlamps (dipped
beam) are switched on automatically.
If the battery charge status drops below 40%, the message "Replace battery" appears in the display. This message only
goes out when the battery is replaced. If it is necessary to replace the battery, this should take place shortly before the
vehicle is handed over.
Important note:
If the transport mode is deactivated, this is to be noted on the shipping documents.
If the transport mode needs to be deactivated during the transport for technical reasons, this can only be done with the
approval or in discussion with VPC.
12. Breakdowns
12.1. Information for the transport companies regarding breakdowns of new vehicles on the
transport route
12.1.1. Introduction
These procedural instructions describe the procedure to be followed if a Mercedes-Benz passenger vehicle, breakdown
on the logistics route on the way to its destination.
The procedural instructions describe the procedure for both the transport company and the Mercedes-Benz India or
authorized dealers
If the vehicle experiences functional problems that cannot be traced to the fault sources, please contact your nearest
authorized Mercedes-Benz service company or branch.
a. Breakdown issues are reported to the dealers who receive the factory new vehicle from the transporters.
1. An employee authorized by the shipping company contacts the service reception of the MB service compa-
ny/branch and describes the breakdown and the vehicle's special status.
2. The mechanic in the service company repairs the broken-down vehicle.
3. If the vehicle cannot be repaired by the on-site mechanic, the transporter contacts the Mercedes-Benz India
for help. If an on-site help is requires for the transporter, people from the plant are sent to deal with the issue.
4. If a diagnosis is made that the battery in the broken-down vehicle needs to be replaced, the battery test is to
be carried out in accordance with the service information "Battery testing and analysis process".
b. Emergency concept & ordering of vehicle key if it is lost on logistics route.
If the vehicle key is lost on the logistics route, the transporter must inform the dealer immediately and wait till the help
is rendered from Mercedes-Benz India.
The Dealers then contacts the Mercedes- Benz India by telephone and mails to order the new key. After the key is
made, the MB-India contacts the dealers and agrees to send an employee to the dealers.
The employee uses the key prepared to open the vehicle. The enclosed second key can be removed from the trunk. The
new key is coded (taught-in) and the access authorization of the lost key is removed from the vehicle's memory, mean-
ing that only the two new keys can open and operate the vehicle. The detailed procedural instructions result from the
information from the WIS system for theft- relevant vehicle components; the vehicle's lock system may have to be re-
placed.
In the case of vehicles with an FBS4 locking system, the service information
Please note that the modalities a. Breakdown during sending on the logistics route / specifications for the transporter
also apply to this process. The costs that arise from the loss of the vehicle key and all resulting subsequent costs are to
be covered by the transporter of the vehicle in question.
All costs connected with the loss of the key, e.g. works on the lock system are to be invoiced to the dealer and Mer-
cedes-Benz India has the right to recover the amount from the transporter as per the purchase order agreement.
