Chicken are very expensive to feed.
It is the reason why most businesses fail to
succeed.
If you have this challenge, then here is your
solution.

Its Wheat. Wheat sprouts or wheat grass,

if you like.
Chicken love it! It is easy and cheap to produce
in just 7 days using water only.

Poultry thrive on fresh vegetation.

Usually, the grains are sprout to about 6 inches.
The chicken eat everything, the leaves (grass),
roots and any remaining seeds that didn’t
sprout are all fed to the chicken and eaten.
Other farm animals eat wheat sprouts too. Such
as goats, cattle, sheep, horses, donkeys, ducks,
geese, rabbits, and pigs .
According to research,It is a whole meal highly
rich in proteins, vitamins, minerals and enzymes.

(Here I will only tell you how to make the wheat

grass at your home so I will not go into much
details.)

THINGS YOU WILL NEED
A shaded structure
Trays- ½ inch deep (Plastic or aluminium,
with small holes)
Wheat seeds

HOW TO GROW WHEAT GRASS

Clean the seeds and rinse
Soak the seeds for at least 12 hours and up
to 24 hours
Lay the seed out in trays
The seeds should be wet down with water 2
times a day. No standing water should be
left in the trays.
Harvest!
Feed to chicken.
Clean trays after each use.
Repeat each day. Every day a tray is taken
out, one replaces it making this a continual
cycle of growing and harvesting.
WHERE TO GROW
The set up can be as easy as setting small
containers on the corridor and can also be large
scale and automated depending on how much
feed you need on a daily basis.
We construct this set up using PVC pipes. It
saves space and it cost around Ksh.6000.
Currently we are using 3 trays only producing
an average of 20kg of feed daily at an average
cost of Ksh 90.
It is best to buy the wheat in bulk.

The only challenges I have experienced so far

after 4 months of use is that it is an every day
type of system. Never miss a day. Other than
that our chicken are happy and so are We.
