Medicines
Time: Date: Week 4
II. Session Outline
Session Title: “Best Be Safe Today”
Session Objectives: At the end of the session, learners will be able to:
a) understand the key concepts related to the use of medicines;
b) learn the basic rules in taking medicines; and
c) apply the key concepts learned to their real life situations.
Key Concepts:  Medicines are chemicals or compounds used to cure, halt, or prevent
disease; ease symptoms; or help in the diagnosis of illnesses. Advances
in medicines have enabled doctors to cure many diseases and save
lives.
 These days, medicines come from a variety of sources. Many were
developed from substances found in nature, and even today many are
extracted from plants.
 Some medicines are made in labs by mixing together a number of
chemicals. Others, like penicillin, are byproducts of organisms such as
fungus. And a few are even biologically engineered by inserting genes
into bacteria that make them produce the desired substance.
III. Teaching Strategies

Activity: "Life is a dance, and Zumba is the rhythm”
Materials: a Zumba dance
A. Introduction and  Let the students dance as they follow the steps in the
10 mins
Warm-Up video.
 Ask, “What is the importance of exercising or dancing
Zumba to our daily lives?”
Activity: “Prevention is better than cure”
Materials: PowerPoint presentation
 Arrange the learners accordingly ensuring that equal
opportunity will be given to the diverse learners
regardless of their differences.
B. Concept
15 mins  Explain the rules.
Exploration
 The teacher will let the students enumerate at least five(5)
ways in taking medicines.
 The students will share their answers through
brainstorming and let them report as a group.
 Discuss challenges and insights gained.
Activity: Taking Medicines
Materials: PowerPoint presentation
 The teacher will discuss the different rules in taking
medicines through a Power point presentation.
C. Valuing 20 mins  The teacher will let the students engage the students to
participate by sharing their personal experiences
regarding the topic.
 Let the students share their personal experiences in
connection with the lesson discussed.
Activity: #Expressing the Basic Steps in Taking Medicines: Our
Journey
Materials: Journals, writing tools, coloring materials,
cellphones for digital entries, bond paper.
 Explain the task: Creatively express thoughts on the
importance of learning the basic steps in taking
Journal Writing 15 mins medicines.
 Allow time to write, draw, or record thoughts.
 Sharing Option: Offer learners the chance to share
reflections.
 Conclude by emphasizing the role of knowing the
different ways to correctly use medicine in order to
achieve a healthy well-being.
