Section 3: Hazards Identification

Potential Acute Health Effects

Main Hazard: May cause eye, skin respiratory and respiratory irritation.

Eyes: Eye contact will cause irritation and inflammation with possible corneal damage if prompt action is not taken.

Skin: Skin contact can produce irritation and inflammation.

Inhalation: Inhalation of dust particles will produce irritation to respiratory tract, characterized by sneezing and coughing.

Ingestion: Dust particles will cause irritation and possible damage to mouth, throat & gastro intestinal tract if prompt action is not
taken.

Section 4: First Aid Measures

Eye Contact:
Check for and remove any contact lenses. In case of contact, immediately flush eyes with plenty of clean water or saline
fluid for at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention immediately.

Skin Contact: Wash with soap and water at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash clothing
before reuse. Get medical attention if irritation develops.
Inhalation:
If inhaled, remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Loosen tight
clothing such as a collar, tie, belt or waistband. Get medical attention.
Ingestion:
Wash out mouth with water. Do NOT induce vomiting unless directed to do so by medical personnel. Never give anything by
mouth to an unconscious person. Get medical attention if symptoms appear.

Section 5: Fire and Explosion Data

Flammability of the Product: Not flammable.

Combustion hazard: Not hazardous combustion product but irritating fumes may be released.
Flash Points: Not combustible.

Flammable Limits: Not available.

Products of Combustion: Not available.
Fire Hazards in Presence of Various Substances: Not available.

Explosion Hazards in Presence of Various Substances: None.

Fire Fighting Media and Instructions: Raise the alarm and then tackle the fire if safe to do so. Use an extinguishing agent
suitable for the surrounding fire. Water may be ineffective. Prevent spillage from entering sewers, drains or watercourses.

Personal Protection: Standard fire fighting protective equipment with approved self contained breathing apparatus.
Special Exposure Hazards: Promptly isolate the scene by removing all persons from the vicinity of the incident if there is a fire.
No action shall be taken involving any personal risk or without suitable training.
Hazardous thermal decomposition products: Not available

Section 6: Accidental Release Measures

Personal Precautions: If specialized clothing is required to deal with the spillage, take note of any information in section
8 on suitable and unsuitable materials.

Environmental Precautions: Avoid dispersal of spilled material and runoff and contact with soil, waterways, drains and
sewers.

Spillages: Sweep or shovel up spillages and place in suitable waste container for disposal in accordance with regional
procedures and regulations. Flush away any residual spillage materials with water.

Section 7: Handling and Storage

Precautions: Put on appropriate personal protective equipment. Eating, drinking and smoking should be prohibited in areas where
this material is handled stored and processed. Workers should wash hands and face before eating, drinking and smoking. Do not
ingest. Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Avoid breathing vapor or mist. Use only with adequate ventilation. Empty
containers retain residue and can be hazardous. Do not reuse container.

Storage: Store in accordance with local regulations. Store in a dry, cool and well-ventilated area, away from incompatible materials.
Keep container tightly closed and sealed until ready for use. Containers that have been opened must be carefully resealed and
kept upright to prevent leakage. Do not store in unlabeled containers. Use appropriate containment to avoid environmental
contamination.
Section 8: Exposure Controls/Personal Protection

Exposure controls: Use in a well-ventilated area and minimized airborne dust. An eye wash station and safety shower should
be located in the mixing and storage area.

Eye and Face Protection: Wear approved chemical safety googles and face shield for protection against splashes.

Hand Protection: Use chemical resistant gloves to prevent contact with skin.

Body protection: Standard cover are usually sufficient. Use a chemical apron or chemical over suit for prolonged contact.

Respiratory protection: A standard dust mask may be adequate. Use an approved respirator fitted with a dust filter for high
dust levels or if dust is a nuisance.

Additional Comments: Care is required when handling used sacks as they will contain residual product which is alkaline.
Contaminated waste (e.g disposable chemical over suit) must be processed in accordance with site procedures.
