ABSTRACT

The use of AI in education has significantly enriched students learning

experiences, with 46% of students reporting using AI tools. AI applications, such
as personalized learning experiences, adaptive testing, predictive analytics, and
natural language processing, have shown potential to improve learning efficiency
and provide personalized educational support. This study aims to determine the
different AI learning tools used by the respondents, the performances of grade 11
students in quarter 3 level, and he impacts of AI on student engagement and
academic performance. A review of the available research literature indicates
that AI can enhance education by improving student outcomes, streamlining
administrative procedures, and improving teaching environments. ChatGPT, an
open platform, offers self-learning tasks, but it doesn’t replace teacher’s roles
and support. AI’s rapid advancement impacts classroom practices. The
researcher found that ChatGPT, an AI learning tool, is primarily used by the
grade 11 students at Marbel National Highschool. It enhances academic
performance by facilitating personalized learning, tailoring content to individual
needs, fostering deeper understanding, and providing real-time support, thereby
improving critical thinking skills and independent learning.
CHAPTER 1

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

In 20th Century, a mass number of students used AI on studies. A report is

based on the responses to June, 2023 ACT survey from 4,006 students in grade
10 to 12. 46% percent of students surveyed reported that they had use AI tools.
The presence of these benefits means that Al enriches students' learning
experiences (Fengchun et al., 2021). The presence of these benefits means that
Al enriches students' learning experiences. Several studies have tried to explore
the potential impact of artificial intelligence tool for students in education. Various
applications of artificial intelligence in education were studied, such as
personalized learning experiences, adaptive testing, predictive and analytics.
AI shows an incredible potential to improve learning efficiency and provide
personalized educational support to both students and teachers
(MONTENEGRO-RUEDA). The use of Al applications in learning can enhance
the learning experience in many ways such as personalized learning exercises
thanks to Al algorithms or instant feedback and communication thanks to Al
natural language processing. Al applications have a positive impact on student
engagement and academic performance. This accessibility empowers students
to learn at their own convenience and pace, breaking down barriers (AM Al-
Zahrani, 2024)

The primary goal of this study is to determine the different AI learning tool
used by the respondents, the performances of grade 11 in terms of quarter 3

DEFINITION OF TERMS

To facilitate better understanding of the study, the following terms are defined:

Engagement and Performance. This refers to the third quarter grades in

Discipline and Ideas in Social Sciences (DISS) subject of grade 11 students at
Marbel National High School.

Artificial Intelligence (AI). This is a learning tool that processes by machines,

especially by computer system. This is the tool used by the students. These are
the Cici, ChatGPT, AI chat both and ChatOn AI.
Percentile. The term percentile refers to how a score to other scores from the
same set.

Percentile rank. The percentage of scores in a frequency distribution that are

lower than a certain score is known as the percentile rank of that score.

CHAPTER 2

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

With its ability to improve student results, streamline administrative

procedures, and improve teaching and learning environments, artificial
intelligence (AI) holds the potential to completely transform the area of education.
(Omar Boubker, 2024)

The term artificial intelligence (AI) refers to the advancement of computer

technology that can do a wide range of tasks that traditionally require a higher
level of human intelligence, such as speech and image recognition, natural
language processing, and decision-making (Joiner, 2018). Many artificial
intelligence resources have been developed in the modern era. ChatGPT is an
open artificial intelligence platform that responds to queries, assertions, and
information requests from users by text (Choi et al., 2023, Stokel-Walker, 2022).
With the help of this application, kids can learn how to code, translate texts,
prepare homework, and pick up new languages on their own.

Nowadays many artificial intelligence resources have been developed. As an

open artificial intelligence platform, ChatGPT is able to deliver text in reply to
users' questions, claims and information requests (Choi et al., 2023, Stokel-
Walker, 2022). This tool offers to students a wide range of self-learning
possibilities for preparing homework, text translation, coding, or learning a new
language. For more precision, AI and its resources are useful tools for education
and learning, but they are no alternative to the teacher's role, nor to his ability to
support students in a specific learning process. Therefore, experts regard
ChatGPT as a double-edged sword (Palal et al., 2023).

The importance given to AI tools is driven by its direct influence on the HEIs,
instructors and students' lives. It is apparent that the rapid technological
advancement of AI significantly affects education and classroom practices (Chiu
et al., 2023).

To be more specific, AI and its resources are important tools for education
and learning, but they do not replace the teacher's function or capacity to support
pupils during a specific learning process (Palal et al., 2023).AI technologies are
valued because of their direct impact on the lives of higher education institutions,
professors, and students. The rapid technological growth of AI has a substantial
impact on education and classroom activities (Chiu et al., 2023).

Based on the study of Mohr et al. (2023), there are additional hazards
associated with the use of chatbots, including the gathering of usage data, the
more challenging evaluation of the outcomes, the ambiguity of authorship, and
the abusive and unthinking use of these tools. This will gradually strip the human
brain of all thought and mental effort as it goes deeper into each activity, such as
planning and organizing. High reliance on AI can degrade technical skills and
create stress when physical or mental measures are needed (Gocen and
Aydemir, 2020).

AI’s influence on decision-making within educational institutions is gradually

expanding. Universities now employ AI for both academic and administrative
purposes. AI aids students in searching for program admission requirements,
obtaining degrees, and benefits from personalization, tutoring, and 24/7 access
to learning. Furthermore, AI facilitates quick responses, addresses questions,
and automates tasks, all of which are prominent in the education sector
(Karandish, 2021).

Enhancing Student Performance Another significant pro of artificial

intelligence in education is that it can help enhance student performance with
increased feedback. AI-powered systems can evaluate students’ progress,
provide them with targeted feedback, and identify areas where they need
improvement. Moreover, AI can monitor students’ behavior patterns, assess their
attention levels, and determine if they need additional assistance in certain
subjects, granular areas, or specific skills. Instant, AI-powered feedback along
will enhance learning experiences can be expected to push students’ abilities to
new heights. Retrieved from : "The Pros And Cons Of AI

AI can adapt content to the student, creating a personalized learning

experience rather than a one- size fits all approach. Questions answered
instantly: With the help of AI students can have their questions answered within
seconds rather than waiting for a human response – this has the further
advantage of encouraging shy students to ask questions without fear of being
judged. Time saving: Using AI to help generate ideas or structure content frees
up student time to focus on higher level skills such as analysis or creativity.
Improved accessibility: With smart data gathering, custom tasks and personalize
schedules, the boundaries between students, teachers and educational
administrators can be bridged with the help of AI technologies. Barriers based on
physical location, language, money can be overcome as we move closer to 24/7
access to all. Neurodiversity: Some neurodiverse students who may struggle with
traditional settings or learning methods thrive in AI powered environments.
