WORKSHOP
ADJECTIVE.

It`s a word that describes a person or a thing in positive or negative form, for example:

Wilbert is an intelligent student, but he is a shy person

This car is fast, but it`s dangerous

 My Mother lives in a big house

 I like red wine
 It`s a clever idea.
 This laptop is very good
 This cellphone is Japanese
 I like the yellow car, etc.

 Big, small, short, tall, old, new, pretty, good, clever, etc. (common adjectives)
 Red, blue, brown etc. (colours)
 Peruvian, Russian, Japanese, ect. (Nationalities)

How do you use an adjective in English?

1. In English, an adjective can go AFTER the verb BE,

 My car is fast. ....... (AFTER)

be adj.

 A Ferrari is expensive
be adj.

 My career is interesting
be adj.

2. When it is with noun it always goes BEFORE the noun. Example:

 It’s a fast car

Adj. noun
 It’s a (very) good hotel
adj. noun
 It`s an interesting class.
adj. noun
 Jerson is a good student
adj. noun
 It`s my English book
 adj. noun
2. Adjectives are the same for singular and plural nouns, so you never add an “s” to an adjective.
This is different from many other languages where adjectives have to “agree” with nouns.

Example:
- Our cars are fast - They are fast cars
Adj. Adj.

3. Adjectives have no masculine or feminine form.

Examples:

. Arthur is friendly, but he is a shy person

. Laura is shy, too.
