FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS IN THE CONSTITUTION OF PAKISTAN 1973:

Article 8: Laws inconsistent with or in derogation of fundamental rights to be void.

1- Security of Person: (Article 9):: No person shall be deprived of life or liberty, but accordance with law.

2- Safeguards as to arrest and detention: (Article 10):: Every person who is arrested and detained in
custody shall be produced before a Magistrate within a period of twenty four hours of his arrest.

3- Right to Fair Trial: (Article 10A):: A person is entitled to fair trial and due process. Under the law
everyone who is charged with a criminal offence is presumed innocent until proved guilty.

4- Slavery, forced labor etc; prohibited: (Article 11):: Slavery is forbidden and all form of forced
labor are prohibited.

5-Protection against retrospective punishment: (Article 12):: Under the constitution no law shall
authorize the punishment of a person for an act or omission that was not punishable by law at the time
of act or omission.

6- Protection against double punishment and self incrimination: (Article 13):: No person shall be
prosecuted or punished for the same offence more than once or; No person shall be compelled to be a
witness against himself.

7- Inviolability of dignity of man: (Article 14):: The dignity of man and, subject to law, the privacy of
home shall be Inviolability No person shall be subjected to torture for the purpose of
extracting evidence.

8-Freedom of movement: (Article 15):: Every citizen shall have right to remain in and, subject to any
reasonable restriction imposed by law in the public interest, enter and move freely throughout Pakistan
and to reside and settle in any part thereof.

9-Freedom of assembly: (Article 16):: Every citizen hall have freedom to assemble peacefully and
without arms, subject to any reasonable restitution imposed by law in the interest of public order.

10- Freedom of associations: (Article 17):: Every citizen in Pakistan has right to form associations or
unions, provided that such steps are taken within the limits

11- Freedom of Trade, Business and Profession: (Article 18):: Every citizen of Pakistan shall have right to
enter upon any lawful profession or occupation or conduct any lawful business.

12- Freedom of Speech: (Article 19):: Every citizen shall have the right of freedom of speech and
expression, and there shall be freedom of press, subject to any reasonable restitution imposed by law in
the interest of glory of Islam or the integrity, security or defence of Pakistan, friendly relations with
foreign states.

13- Right to information: (Article 19A):: Every citizen shall have right to have access to information in all
matters of public importance subject to regulations and reasonable restriction imposed by Law.

14- Freedom to profess religion and to manage religious institutions (Article 20):: Every citizen of
Pakistan shall have right to profess, practice and propagate his religion.

15- Safeguard against taxation for purposes of any particular religion (Article 21):: No person shall be
compelled to pay any special tax for the support of propagation of the religion other than his own.

16- Safeguards as to educational institutions in respect of religion, etc (Article 22):: Every religious
community will be free to educate its pupils in its own religion. Every religious sect has right to establish
its own educational institutions.

17- Provision as to property: (Article 23):: Every citizen shall have right to acquire, hold and dispose of
property.

18- Protection of property rights: (Article 24):: The constitution of Pakistan 1973 provides safeguards to
property rights. No person shall be deprived of his property, save in accordance with law.

19- Equality of citizens: (Article 25):: All citizens are equal before law and are entitled equal protection
of law. There is no discrimination on the basis of race, religion, caste and sex.

20- Right to education: (Article 25A):: The State shall provide free and compulsory education to all
children of the age of five to sixteen years in such manner as may be determined by law.

21- Right of access to public places: (Article 26):: Every citizen of pakistan has right of acces to public
places.

22- Safeguard against discrimination in services: (Article 27):: No citizen otherwise qualified for
appointment in the service of Pakistan shall be discriminated against in respect of any such appointment
on the ground only of race, religion, caste, sex, residence or place of birth.

23- Preservation of language, script and culture: (Article 28):: Under the consititution of pakistan
national language of pakistan is urdu but any section of citizen having distinct languag, script or culture
shall have the right to preserve and promote the same and establish institution for the purpose.
