I am happy to know that the 'Prospectus-2019' of Sariya College is ready for publication. It is a handbook
providing all kinds of information to newly enrolled students. Even for
Parents and others, there are enough materials/information to
Know briefly about the rules, regulations, and academic
curriculum, sports, and cultural activities.
Profile of departments/institutes and directorates of Sariya college Suriya. We are dedicated to promoting
academic excellence, human value-induced learning, and the all-round development of learners, and once
a pupil completes his/her student life cycle, he leaves campus as a disciplined, skilled, academically
sound, and responsible citizen of the country. I must assure new learners, their parents, and society that
we mean academic business and nothing else. We stand for freedom of ideas and thought but not to abuse
and misuse the extended length of freedom. We are providing enough opportunities for students to excel
in different fields. Every year student union election is held. Their role is well defined in Sariya college
Students are given opportunities to become a member of the Departmental Council, IQAC, Departmental
News Bulletin, NSS, etc.
At last, my message to my dear students is only to have confidence in your capability and do hard
endeavors with a clear target for achievement by making use of all kinds of resources available to you.
No one can stop you from scaling the target. My blessings and good wishes are always with you all

About College
Sariya College, Suriya a premier institution for Coeducation at Sariya, Giridih District in the State of
Jharkhand. It is a Permanently Affiliated College of Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag. It was founded
in the year 1984 with the aim to impart higher education to rural students. The dreams of the poor
students who are deprived of higher education have been translated into reality by this glorious
institution. Our college caters to the academic and professional needs of boys & girls not only from
Sariya but also from adjoining rural areas and nearby states.
The college initially started functioning with only 14 students in the Arts and Commerce Stream and had
few teaching staff. The State Govt. and the university provided temporary affiliation in the Arts, and
Commerce faculties from the session 1984-85 then from the session 2011-14 the State Govt. and Vinoba
Bhave University, Hazaribag provided Permanent Affiliation to the college in the faculty of Arts
(General), and Commerce up to Honours & General level. Sariya College is registered under the Society
Registration Act and is also registered under sections 2(F) and 12(b) of UGC of Govt. of India.
The college has earned the reputation of being one of the leading multi-disciplinary institutions in the
state in a very short period, based on academic and extracurricular activities at the university. Sariya
college was inaugurated with a clear vision that it would pursue excellence and provide higher education
to the people of this rural and economically deprived section. The college sensitizes its students on
gender and environmental issues through its curriculum celebrating national and international days and
organizing awareness/ through seminars, symposiums, drama, quiz competition etc. The college has
developed into an ideal campus with buildings. It has well-furnished classrooms, library and departments.
The college has sufficient number of computers in the computer lab and different types of educational
aids like smart board, projectors etc. The college has highly qualified and experienced faculty members
and experienced non-teaching staff.
Sariya College has a very active NSS unit, it has adopted a local village named Birhor Tanda to develop
it into an ideal village. The volunteers of the NSS Unit take up various awareness programs in that
village. The result has been quite encouraging. The committees for cultural, sports, and literary activities
are also very active. The college participated in youth festivals, sports, and quiz competitions at the
university level every year. The college has formed IQAC and the critical inputs coming out of it have
been of great help in improving the quality of the institution. The college has also conducted parent-
teacher meetings to bridge the gap and strengthen communication. The alumni of the college have
indicated that most of the old students are well placed and doing their duties successfully. IQAC and the
career counseling cell are engaged in the placement of the students. The members of the faculty and
Principal are engaged in consultancy and extension work. So, the college is providing a rich learning and
teaching environment to nurture the talents for inculcating a hunger for lifelong learning. Preparing the
Self Study Report has been an activity of great learning and challenge. It is a teamwork and the college is
fortunate to have such a talented and hard-working steering committee. Everyone has contributed
sincerely in various forms to complete the assignment.

research and innovation with available resources and utilizing manpower and modern technology to create skilled

our commitment to the transformative power of higher education in Arts, Science and Commerce. Beginning in the
classrooms with exposure to new ideas, new ways of understanding and new ways of knowing, students embark
on a journey of intellectual transformation.

• First of Call applying in NTA for CUET/UG Entrance Exam.
• After that apply in the Chancellor Portal for the Merit List and publication of Merit List by the College.

1. Any act amounting to ragging of fellow students is banned. If any incident of ragging comes to the
notice of the discipline committee as per the latest guidelines of Honorable Supreme Court, the students
(s) concerned will be given a chance to explain and if that explanation is not found satisfactory, the
student (s) will be expelled from the institute.
2. Carrying and/or use of prohibited substances such as illegal drugs are banned in the campus.
3. Carrying and/or use of weapons of any kind (knives, guns, knuckledusters, etc.) whether licensed or
illegal, to the campus is banned.
4. The institute building is a 'No Smoking Zone'. Use/consumption of tobacco in any form is prohibited.
5. Students are required to attend all timetabled learning programs.
6. Respect all teachers, fellow students and visitors to the institute.
7. Student are required to abide by the instructions that your teachers may issue from time to time
regarding your learning programs.
8. Do not use violent, aggressive, threatening, abusive or disruptive behavior towards others.
14. Do not damage, deface, lose or steal library books, journals or newspapers and Institute's computer
lab equipment.
9. Use of mobile phones in the institute's premises is prohibited.
10. Disturbance during conduction of classes or exam and/or lab activities is banned.
11. Students are required to come to the Institute in Institute Uniform.
12. Pay attention to your grooming.
13. Students are required to pay their fees and all other charges at the beginning of the
