Product Description Physical Properties

URA-ZEN is the trade name for Hentzen's military Mix Ratio (Gloss): 3 : 1 by Volume
polyurethanes with highest performance. It is a 3 part - Color Base, Part A
two component, chemical resistant, topcoat with 1 part - 06480CMU, Part B
excellent flexibility and exterior durability. or 04700CMU, Part B

Mix Ratio (S/G & Flats): 3 : 1 by Volume


Material is Qualified to Specifications 3 part - Color Base, Part A
1 part - 06480CMU, Part B
M85285F, TYPE I, CLASS H, FORM M, GRADE N or 04700CMU, Part B

Available Colors: Gloss, S/G, Flat (See Page 3)


Surface Preparation
Admixed Viscosity: < 30 seconds, #4 Ford
To insure proper adhesion, remove all surface Pot Life: 4 hours @ 75 oF
corrosion, paint films, and any residue indicated
by a lack of a water-break free surface. Optimum Application Thickness: 1.8 - 2.3 mils
adhesion results when applied over a substrate Theoretical Coverage: 800-900ft2 @ 1 mil
properly cleaned and treated with an approved
metal pretreatment process like MIL-DTL-81706. Gloss: Flats: 5.0 max. @ 60o
S/G: 15-45 @ 60o
Apply approved MIL-PRF-23377 or MIL-PRF-85582
Gloss: 90 min. @ 60o
primers to 0.6-0.9 mils DFT. Allow primer to dry
Weatherability: < 1 dE @ 500 Hours
per manufacturers recommendations prior to
Impact Flexibility: 40% Elongation @ RT
application of topcoat. When exceeding 48 hours
Low-Temp Flexibility: 1" mandrel bend @ -65oF
dry time of primer, scuff sanding and re-priming
Fluid Resistance: Skydrol, Jet fuel / JP-5,
is recommended for optimum adhesion results.

Mixing / Application Admixed VOC*: < 3.5 lbs./gal. (420 g/L)
*- Contains Exempt Solvents
Prior to blending, Component A (Color Base) must
be thoroughly agitated or mechanically shaken
Shelf Life: 18 Months from DOM
vigorously until uniformly dispersed and there is
no material left on the bottom of the cans.
Dry Times
After agitating, blend 1 volume of Component B
into proper volume(s) of Component A and mix Air Dry Cure Schedule @ 77oF & 50% RH:
the two components well. If needed, thinning Set to Touch: < 2 hours
up to 15% by volume with solvent conforming to Dry Hard: < 8 hours
MIL-DTL-81772, Type I or Type IV is allowed. Full Properties: 7 - 14 days

Force Cure Schedule: (For Dry to Stack Only)


Strain the mixed coating through a fine mesh
Allow a minimum of 30 minutes flash off time
(100-200 microns) into clean pressure pot or cup
before exposing applied topcoat to oven heat.

Note: The quality of the application of all coatings will be influenced by the spray equipment chosen,
along with the temperature, humidity, and air flow of the paint application area.

If in-line or in-head proportioning equipment is used to mix base and catalyst (curing agent) as
the paint is being used, induction time is not required before application.

Equipment Cleanup

Clean equipment immediately after use with 00053SST-1 or an equivalent urethane grade solvent.

Precautions & Safety

• Store containers in dry indoor area, away from windows at temperature between 40 – 100 oF.
• Read all container labels & Safety Data Sheet.
• Keep away from open flame and sparks.
• Do not apply below 50 oF or above 95 oF.
• Use proper ventilation and respiratory protection.
