Orthopaedic Specialty Committee
Orthopaedic Specialty Committee (OSC), Part 2 examination, is the examination that a candidate
required to take to be qualified as an Orthopaedic Surgeon in Malaysia. This examination is crucial to
assess a candidate’s competency to be a qualified Orthopaedic Surgeon.
This time, Orthopaedic Department of Faculty Medicine and Health Sciences was given the privilege to
conduct the examination here in University Malaysia Sarawak, Kota Samarahan. It is a two yearly
rotation among the public universities in Malaysia with the Master Surgery Orthopaedic programme.
A total of six (6) candidates from University Pertanian Malaysia (2), Universiti Sains Malaysia (2),
Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (1) and Universiti Islam Antarabangsa (1). Eaxaminers are from all the
public universities as well as from the Ministry of Health, twenty (20) examiners, two (2) Exam Board
and three (3) observers inclusive of two (2) from UNIMAS.
Out of six (6) candidates, only one failure. Overall, it was a success on hosting this examination for
Orthopaedic Department with very impressive comments from the examiners and Examination Board.
