ELT TEACHING PRACTICE I

FALL 2023

TASK# 1: Preparing a lesson plan

In this assignment, you are asked to prepare a lesson plan for the grammar item(s) you have
been working on. As you prepare your lesson plan please consider:

● what the objectives of the lesson are,

● what possible contexts are available,

● how you will lead in and warm up,

● what type of exposure you will make use of,

● what you will do in order to draw the learners’ attention to the form, meaning and use
of the language item that is in focus,

● what possible noticing and guided discovery activities you can use, and

● what meaningful and communicative activities can provide opportunities for the
learners to practice the new language, and

● what the components of the learning process in the lesson will be.

Remember that you have already worked on most of the items above (e.g., exposure, noticing
and guiding questions, etc.)
When writing, make sure you:

● provide all the required information in the plan,

● submit all the materials/activities/handouts that you plan to use.

Please use the attached lesson plan format.

LESSON PLAN
INTRODUCTORY INFORMATION
Class: 3rd grade
Language Level: A1 (Beginner)
Class Profile: Approximately 20 students, when looked at
with a focus on this topic, their proficiency
level are high in terms of vocabulary and
structure. They are well-behaved, energetic
and cheerful students.
Estimated Time of the Lesson: 40 min
Behavioral Objectives of the Lesson: Students will be able to identify the feelings
from emoticons and pictures.
Students will be able to express their feelings.
Teaching Point: Expressing feelings with different activities
Topic/Theme: Feelings
Timetable Fit: Students already know many feelings from
previous weeks. Since they will study this
topic next week, I will repeat the vocabulary
study and the structure of “I am” and “I
feel”.
Assumptions: It could be a fun lesson because, due to their
age, videos, games and flashcards attract their
attention. I think the participation will be
high.
Anticipated Problems & Solutions: Since it will be the first lesson of the day,
children are usually sleepy. As a solution to
this, I am thinking of making them active by
doing exercises in the warm-up stage. At the
same time, since they have been studying this
unit for 2 weeks, they may be bored with the
subject. I found the solution to this with a
video where they can do movements, colorful
flashcards and a game.
Materials & Aids: Flashcards, song, game, cards in a box.

Please specify and order the components of learning process given below which lead
you as you choose/design and sequence the activities in your classroom procedure.
