AMANDA:

Hello our names are amanda, iara, ines, lucia and marco. We are going to explain a tour of a
week in burgos that we would do to a refugee group of our age who doesn't know the city
with the help of this cardboard which contains a map of Burgos and as you can see all the
places are at the centre of burgos.
Firstly, on monday we will go to have breakfast at the restaurant in the camping Fuentes
Blancas and secondly we will visit the charterhouse of burgos which is the number one
which is situate at the south west at 4.1 KM of the center of Burgos and it took 50 min on
foot to arrive there. It is an old palace of Enrique III and nowadays is a royal pantheon, which
has a very good ornamentation and it was made by Gil de Siloé.
LUCIA:
On Tuesday we will visit Atapuerca which is 27 km from Burgos and you could see it at the
west of the cardboard in the number two. The visit allows you to discover our most remote
past because it is one of the most important archaeological sites in all of Europe. Its
particularity lies in the large number of remains located in the same area, which makes it a
unique place to meet our ancestors. It was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco in
2000 as they are considered a mandatory reference for any study of Human Evolution.
IARA:
On Wednesday we will start the day after having lunch and we will visit the number four
which is situated at the centre of burgos, the Museum of the human evolution, which shows
us how they conserve, inventory and disseminate the archaeological remains from the
deposits of the Sierra de Atapuerca, constituting an international reference in relation to the
evolutionary process of man in its ecological, biological and cultural aspects in chronological
sequence. This museum is one of the most important ones in Spain, is in the top 10 most
visited and important museums in Spain. After going to snack in La favorita, a bar next to the
cathedral, which we will visit afer, at the number three situated at the centre of Burgos, the
cathedral of Burgos, which is at the city centre, has the honor of being the first in Spain to be
built in the classical Gothic style and of following French models. Burgos in the thirteenth
century was an active and flourishing city, which was already part of the Camino de Santiago
and of course, with a cathedral but in Romanesque style.
MARCO:
On Thursday we will visit the number six which is situated at the north and is the Burgos
Castle which is a fortress located at the top of the Cerro del Castillo, elevated 75 m above
the level of the city. The first tower was erected by Count Diego Porcelos at the time of the
Reconquest, in the year 884. As the importance of the defensive site increased, it gave way
to a castle and more complex defensive elements. It was used as a State prison, being
occupied by Kings García of Galicia and Alfonso VI of León, as well as by Tomás de
Gournay, the assassin of King Edward II of England. Nowadays the castle environment is a
recreational park with streets dedicated to poets. The partial reconstruction of the fortress
has enabled it to be used as an interpretation center (opened to the public in 2003), and the
well and underground galleries, known as Cueva del Moro, can also be visited.
INES:
On Friday we will go to Las Llanas which is number five and is situated at the centre; the
surrounding area to the east of the cathedral known by the name of Las Llanas, between
Laín Calvo and Fernan González streets, including Huerto del Rey street. The area is a
medieval architectural complex, made up of churches, houses, arches and squares. For
decades it has been one of the party areas of the city, frequented mainly on weekends by
university students and other young people. We will have dinner in the restaurant La mafia
where they could eat typical burgundy food and then we will give them the night off at the
pub carpanta so they can party in that area where people our age go out.
And there the tour that we would do to our group of refugees in Burgos would end.
