Equipment- it is a set of articles or physical


resources serving to equip a person or thing.

Paraphernalia- it is a miscellaneous article,


especially material needed for a particular
activity.

TOOLS OF FRONT OFFICE SERVICES

Bell by cart - A cart used by bellboys to transport


or carry the luggage of hotel guests.

Credit card voucher - A container for storing


vouchers and room number-wise for future
reference and verification during the audit.

EQUIPMENT OF FRONT OFFICE SERVICES

Switch Board – an installation for the manual


control of telephones, connections and in an
office, hotel, or other large buildo;/;00p/ing.

Printer – it is a machine for printing text or


pictures onto paper.

Room Rack –is an array of metal file pockets


designed to hold room rack slips (registration
records) that display guests and room status
information.

Paper Shredder – a piece of machinery that


shreds paper into fine strips, to destroy private
documents etc.

Fax Machine – it is equipment that is used to


accept instant bookings even when there is no
clerk available at the reservations.

Computer – it is a device that stores, retrieves,


and processes data. It is also used in typing
documents storing information, and monitoring
bookings and reservations of guests.

Cash Box Drawer – it is connected to the receipt


printer and is triggered to open automatically
when a cash sale is finished.

Bill Detector – it is a machine that detects the


security features of banknotes to determine
whether any given bill is fake or genuine.

Key Rack – it is a framework of bars, wires, or


pegs on which keys are originally placed when
leaving the room.

Key Holder – it is a tool used to hold and identify


the room keys assigned.

Telephone - is a system for transmitting voices


over a distance using wire or radio, by converting
acoustic vibrations to electrical signals.

Room Availability Board –the number of rooms at


the hotel open for specific dates and/or types of
accommodations.

Credit Card Machines – are used to collect


payments from customers who wish to pay by
credit or debit card.

Accounting Posting Machine –a business machine


specially designed for the posting of ledgers and
other business history records or the performing
of similar operations (such as recording and
totaling of running bank deposits and
withdrawals).

Luggage Tag – This is an identification tag that


aids the passenger in identifying his bag among
similar bags at the destination luggage carousel.

PARAPHERNALIA OF FRONT OFFICE SERVICES

Log Book - it is daily information about a journey,


daily private personal events, and personal
information of guests.

Room Key – it is a key given to a guest in a hotel


to open or lock the door of their room.

Vingcard - is an electronic card hotel locking


system that secures the guest room and other
hotel facilities.

Registration Form - This is used by hotels and


resorts to keep all the information of their
visitors.

Guest Folio – it is an equipment that stores guest


folios which are arranged by guest room numbers.
Guest folios remain in the tray throughout the
occupancy of the guest.
