Bota pathri Gulmarg

OPTIONAL

SINCE THE GONDOLA IS SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY, SO IF TICKETS ARE

BOOKED THEN THE GUEST WILL GO FOR THE GONDOLA BUT IN CASE TICKETS

WILL NOT BE BOOKED THEN THE GUEST CAN OPT FOR AN OPTIONAL

ACTIVITY IN GULMARG I.E BOTA PATHRI.

Bota Pathri is a meadow in Gulmarg. It is located at a distance of about 10 kilometers from

the golf course area. It is a restricted area that requires permission from both the police and

the army to visit. The driver of the cab that you will hire from the local taxi stand will arrange

permission by himself. After Reaching there you will witness the picturesque natural beauty

and deep dense forest, fast-flowing river, snow mountains around with the village of Gujjar

shepherds, a mosque, and a dargah inside Bota Pathri. These shepherds stay for six months in

Bota Pathri and later they move to another place in Jammu. The drive is magical between tall

mountains dotted with huge glaciers. You can even try and walk across one! When you drive

through, you spot some Dhokas (mud huts)of Gujjars & Bakerwals

It is very close to the border and, hence, sensitive in terms of security checks. There are at

least two Army checkpoints between Gulmarg town and here. Civilians cannot go beyond the

second check-post because that’s just 5 km away from the LOC. This road further leads to

Apharwat peak and Alpather Lake. The first check-post is near the High Altitude Warfare

School, where you need to get permission from the Army personnel present. That doesn’t

take time. The road is very well maintained and the drive is smooth. Stop at any idyllic spot

near the stream and in the middle of wildflowers, where you would find plenty. The crisp

fragrance of the deodars fills your lungs with all the goodness of the mountain air. There’s a

tiny emerald-hued lake also, at a little elevation from the roadside.

Ideally, the rate for the taxi varies from time to time depending upon the flow of the tourists.

But the minimum of 5000 per taxi and maximum 7500 per taxi is the most common rate for

Botapathri. In one taxi a maximum of 6 people can easily make their journey. The only thing

that you have to do is either visit the local taxi stand by yourself or consult your local

Gulmarg guide if already hired

Overnight stay and dinner at Hotel in Gulmarg.

Note: - For Gulmarg visit during heavy snowfalls vehicles are not allowed beyond Tangmarg
(Its 13 kms away from Gulmarg). In this case we assist customers to hire snow jeeps which
charge Rs 2500- 3000 per return journey per Snow-jeep (Tangmarg to Gulmarg & Return)
(Snow jeeps are easily available in this scenario & cost will be on actuals & paid by
customer).
