MX4SIO - [00] english manual 2/9
1 [10] Description
[11] MX4SIO (Memory Expansion for SIO) is an adapter for using SD and microSD cards in the
slot of a PlayStation and PlayStation 2 by using homebrew software. It is not possible to use an
SD card as a Memory Card! Only homebrew software is able to access SD cards!
[12] The adapter is available in two versions, one for microSD cards and one for large SD cards
(microSD via an adapter). Two LEDs are indicating an inserted SD card (green) and data
transmission (blue). The case is printed with a 3D printer.
[13] The design is to be regarded as "final". The hardware is tested, changes are not planned.
[14] The groundwork for this hardware was laid on psxtools.de and psx-place.com and hat
grown further in cooperation with some developers (mainly Maximus32 and wisi) and beta-
testers. With my work, I want to support this project and provide potential users with the
necessary hardware. Therefore, it is explicitly allowed to share this data package and to
manufacture the board yourself. It would be appreciated, if the data package was only shared
as a whole. Furthermore, I payed attention to mainly use large components to allow people
with little soldering experience to easily assemble the board.
[15] All information about this project, files and links can be found on trisaster.de: MX4SIO (EN)
2 [20] Production
[21] There is a single board design, which can be assembled differently depending on the
desired variant. The 3D case also depends on the chosen variant.
[33] If you know a PCB manufacturers that manufactures in your country, please tell me and I
will add them to the list.

[58] The two parts are screwed together with two M2 pan-head screws with a maximum length
of 6 mm.

5 [71] Credits
[72] Many thanks go to wisi and Maximus32, who mainly developed the software for this
project. Thanks to TnA for organizing and Anakin94 for testing and for bringing the project to
my attention. And of course thanks to all others who have been involved in the project.
6 [73] Translation
[74] This document was translated from German into English by <your name>.
Introduction
Send me an unformatted document (*.txt) with all numbered sections. Keep the brackets
(<…>) and insert the translation like in the following headlines.
If you are not sure if your translation is correct, use a online translator (like DeepL) and the
original German document for better orientation.
Please also translate the date, because its format is different in every language. Please note
the order (date, month, year) and the separator ( . - / ). Then I can see how to write the current
date.
Please also note the decimal separator in your language and do not only cope the English
numbers. Nowadays, some people use the dot separator as in English as they are used to is in
English, even if the comma is used in their language.
And last but not least, note the quotation marks that are used in your language. It’s the same
as with the decimal separator.
I’ll additionally compare everything with the information on Wikipedia to avoid mistakes.
