The session was initiated by the chairperson Mr. Shivam Kumar Chaubey, where he welcomed
the panel members of the Group Conference and introduced the Resource Person, Presenter,
and Recorder of the session. The Chairperson informed about the rules of the conference and
acquainted the Panel with the theme of the Research Paper presented in the conference.
Mr. Kamran Ahmad Jafri, a human resource student who interned at Thompson Press Indian
Limited, delivered a paper on creating a more inclusive and gender-diverse workforce in the
printing factory, ensuring equal chances for both male and female employees. The report was
thoroughly researched and provided a thorough examination of the issue.
The session was started by a brief introduction of the organization by the presenter, Thomson
Press is a well-known entity in the commercial printing and allied services industry in the
Indian sub-continent. Since its inception in 1967, the company has built a strong reputation for
its excellence. It prides itself on its advanced infrastructure, skilled workforce, streamlined
processes, and dedication to staying updated with the latest technological advancements.
He then explained the Organizational structure and the HR department Structure. Followed by
the organization’s brief introduction and background, the presenter shared the tasks performed
and the learnings accomplished from the tasks during the six weeks of Internship with the
organization. He then concluded the presentation by sharing the major issues that the company
is currently facing and his insight on the background of the problem.
 The organization faces two primary challenges: a lack of female representation across
departments, potentially indicating obstacles for women in securing permanent roles or
advancing within the company, and inefficiencies in workflow resulting in
underutilization of trainees' time. These issues stem from gender stereotypes
influencing hiring decisions and a male-dominated workplace culture that may deter
women from seeking employment or progressing within the organization. Addressing
these challenges requires efforts to promote gender diversity, ensure fair hiring and
promotion practices, create an inclusive workplace culture, and optimize workflow
efficiency.
The chairperson commenced the discussion by encouraging Panel members to discuss on the
same issue and share their insights and remarks about the presented topic. With permission of
the chairperson the panel member, Mr. Zahoor initiated the discussion by giving measures to
overcome the issue. He gave suggestion that as an intern we can provide feedback to the
departments about our perspective and Mr. Alfaz added that by increasing women employee
in the HR department itself will resolve the issue to an extent.
Resource Person Prof. Vani Narula and Dr. Shaad Habeeb shared their insights on how
companies can resolve these issues.
The chairperson concluded the conference with conclusive remarks and vote of thanks to the
members of the Conference panel, the resource person, the presenter, and the recorder.
