SEWAGE
FROM FIXTURES
- Most fixtures require traps to prevent
passage of:
 Methane and other hazardous
gases, and;
 Vermin and other unwanted
organisms to our buildings.
- Some fixtures on the other hand, do not
require trapping, due to;
 Integral traps are already installed
on the fixtures itself
 Utilization of offsets, but it has
special requirements when such is
used.
- Most fixtures utilize indirect waste piping
due to;
 Health hazard
 Sanitation and cleanliness of
fixtures or equipment
NOTE
- Always use sanitary fittings for drainage
systems.
- Sanitary fittings promote efficient flow of
water where throttling is reduced
Methane – combustible harmful gas
DIFFERENT PARTS OF TRAP
Tailpiece – Nanggagaling sa fixture at kumukuha

Return bend – 180 degrees na fitting.
Fitting – pang connect ng one pipe to another
pipe
Assembly – composed of different parts na
inaasemble. Ang p-trap ay assembly
Sanitary elbow – Parang elbow na may 90
degrees ang bali ng fitting.
Sanitary fittings – May curve or slope para
maging maayos ang flow ng tubig.
 2% slope of pipe – Para maging maayos
ang flow ng waste water at hindi
mabawasan ang pressure.
Ordinary fittings – Straight ang pipe
Trap arm – Yan yung tutusok sa loob ng pader.
Vent – Kapag may lalabas na tubig dapat may
papasok na hangin para maayos ang flow ng
tubig
Trap seal loss – Yung vacuum na naccreate ng
pabagsak na tubig, hihigupin nya yung tubig na
natrap sa p-trap and it may cause trap seal loss.
Kapag may trap seal loss pwedeng makapasok
ang mga pests (ipis at daga)
Integral trap – May built in na trap
Offset – naka bend na tubo that acts as p-trap
before. Lumang p-trap
Branch – horizontal pipe.
Stack – vertical pipe for waste water and dirty air
DIFFERENT BRANCHES
2 kinds of pipes in drainage:
1. Soil Pipe
- Mga tubo na dinadaanan ng feces or solid
waste
- Mas malaki ang diameter. Minimum of 4
inches
2. Waste pipe
- Kapag walang feces na dumadaan, waste
pipe ang tawag.
- Minimum of 3 inches na diameter
Indirect waste piping – Hindi kumu-connect
yung soil branch or waste branch of fixtures
4. Drum Trap
papunta sa main soil/waste branch. (Ex.
- Trap na may clean out.
Washing machine, aircon)
- Exclusive sa bathtub
