1. Develop competent, productive, culturally-oriented, and ethical professionals, leaders, and citizens of the country.
2. Cultivate relevant, innovative, and technology-based models for instruction in the attainment of professional competence.
3. Ensure quality results through the accreditation of all programs.

III. COURSE OBJECTIVES
1. To recognize the significance, nature and role of philosophy in relation to education.
2. Identify the basic tenets of the different school of thoughts and show their educational significance.
3. Provide comprehensive educational, historical, philosophical, sociological, anthropological and legal foundations and the corresponding
instructional approaches therein and their contemporary relevance to Philippine Education.

V. COURSE DESCRIPTION
An analysis of the leading conflicting educational philosophies today: Pragmatism, Idealism, etc. The study is made especially on
contemporary philosophical movement in education; progressivism, and essentialism.

 Can define and discuss anthropology as a foundation of education;
 Can characterize and describe human culture;
 Can discuss the characteristics, elements, functions of language and writing and its implication to education.
 Can conceptualize and explain the theories of kinship, marital customs, and the contemporary forms of marriage.
 Can give and describe the uses and functions of arts and religion and its implication to education.
 Can define and discuss the historical development, learning theories, intelligence, and motivation as the psychological foundation of education.
