MINUTES
An online meeting was held on 29th January, 2024 at 3.00 PM on Google Meet Platform (Meeting link
https://meet.google.com/ytj-ctfo-zgp to prepare the guidelines as per UGCF-NEP 2020 curriculum for the
paper titled "Business Statistics" of B. Com. (Honors), Paper No. DSC- 4.1, Semester-IV. The meeting was
jointly organized by Department of Commerce, Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi and Sri Guru
Gobind Singh College of Commerce, University of Delhi under the initiative of Department College Interface.
The advance notification of the meeting was served through a mail to the College Principals.
The meeting began with the address of Principal, SGGSCC, Prof. J B Singh and was attended by ninety-three
DU faculty members on the scheduled day, date and on the given link. The meeting was convened by Dr.
Manju Bhatia, Associate Professor, Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce, University of Delhi under the
guidance of Professor Hamendra Dangi from the Department of Commerce, Delhi School of Economics,
University of Delhi. The following members across various DU colleges marked their presence through a
Google form (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe_xl_09vtdk7FPGOk9sRG5IsZbcPEoMI13Eik-

The following guidelines were set with the consent of all the Faculty Members and the Representative
member from Department of Commerce, Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi:

Expectation and variance of a random variable.

Discrete Probability distributions: Binomial and Poisson (Properties


and Applications);

Normal distribution: Properties of Normal curve; Computation of


Probabilities and Applications.

Unit 3: Simple Correlation and Regression Analysis (11 hours/ 22
marks)

Correlation Analysis: Meaning and types of Correlation; Correlation Vs Bi-variate frequency distribution is to

Regression Analysis: Principle of least squares and regression lines;

Unit 4: Time Series Analysis (7 hours/ 14 marks)

Time Series Data: Components of time series: Additive and


Multiplicative models.

Trend analysis, fitting of trend using principle of least squares- linear


and second-degree parabola

Shifting of origin and Conversion of annual linear trend equation to


quarterly/monthly basis and vice-versa.

Unit 5: Index Numbers Tests of adequacy are be covered


theoretically as well as numerically.
Meaning and uses of index members;
Concepts of quantity and value index
Construction of Index numbers: Methods of Laspeyres, Paasche and should be covered.
Fisher's Ideal index;

Construction and Utility of Consumer Price Indices, BSE SENSEX, and

Practical Exercises (40 marks) The practical exercises may be given

guidelines for paper setting and evaluation
1. Minimum one question of 5 marks from each unit should be asked. In total there should be six
questions.
2. Any four questions may be attempted.
3. It is advised to have a soft copy of all assignments for Continuous Assessment part of evaluation of
students.

All the faculty members participated actively in the deliberation while providing useful suggestions, and
appreciated the timely initiative of Prof. A K Singh, the HOD and Dean, Department of Commerce and
expressed sincere thanks to Prof. H. K. Dangi, for his keen interest in holding the meeting and being a mentor
and facilitator in holding the meeting along with the Principal, SGGSCC in providing motivation, staff, and
infrastructure for the meeting.
