Class- IX Mathematics
Revision Assignment
1. Find the value of a and b
√11−√7 5 +√6
(i) = 𝑎 − 𝑏√77 (ii) = 𝑎 + 𝑏 √6
√11+√7 5−√6

9𝑛 ×35 ×(27)3
2. If = 27, then find the value of n .
3 ×(81)4
1
3. If a = 6 - √35, find the value of 𝑎2 +
𝑎2
4. The base of a right angled triangle is 8 m and its hypotenuse is 10 m, then find its area.
5. Find four solutions of the following linear equation in two variables: 12x + 5y = 0.
6. Factorise : (𝟐𝒙 − 𝟑𝒚)3 + + (𝟒𝐳 − 𝟐𝐱)3 + (𝟑𝐲 − 𝟒𝐳)3
7. The surface areas of two spheres are in the ratio 1:4. Find the ratio of their volumes.
8. In the given figure, POQ is a line. Ray OR is perpendicular to line
PQ. OS is another ray lying between rays OP and OR. Prove that
1
∠ROS = (∠𝑄𝑂𝑆 − ∠𝑃𝑂𝑆).

9. The sides of a triangular field are 20m, 51m, and 37m. Find the
number of flowerbeds that can be prepared if each bed is to
contain (2 × 3) sq. metre space.
10. Use the Factor Theorem to determine whether g(x) is a factor of p(x) in each of the
following cases:
(i) p(x) = 2𝑥 3 + 𝑥 2 – 2𝑥 − 1, g(x) = x + 1 (ii) p(x) = 𝑥 3 + 3𝑥 2 + 3𝑥 + 1, g(x) = x + 2

11. If the radius and slant height of a cone are in the ratio 7 : 13 and its curved surface area
is 286cm2 , find its radius.

12. Raju and Raj have the same weight. If they each lose weight by 2 kg, how will their
new weights be compared?
Assertion-and-Reason Type Questions

Each question consists of two statements, namely, Assertion (A) and Reason (R).
For selecting the correct answer, use the following code:
(a) Both Assertion (A) and Reason (R) are the true and Reason (R) is a correct
explanation of Assertion (A).
(b) Both Assertion (A) and Reason (R) are the true but Reason (R) is not a correct
explanation of Assertion (A).
(c) Assertion (A) is true and Reason (R) is false.
(d) Assertion (A) is false and Reason (R) is true.

13. Assertion: In ΔABC, ∠C = ∠A, BC = 4 cm and AC = 5 cm. Then, AB = 4 cm

Reason: In a triangle, angles opposite to two equal sides are equal.

14. Assertion: There can be infinite numbers of equal chords of a circle.

Reason: A circle has only finite number of equal chords.

15. Assertion: The sides of a triangle are in the ratio of 25 :14 :12 and its perimeter is 510
m. Then the greatest side is 250 cm.

Reason: Perimeter of a triangle = a + b + c, where a, b, c are sides of a triangle.
