Coming Next in Unit 2 Lesson 2
Coming Next in Unit 2 Lesson 2
The creation of the internet and social media apps have opened up the world of
communication. Chatting to friends and family all around the world has never been
faster or cheaper. Do you need some information for a history project or inspiration
for a science fiction story you are writing? Do you need extra explanation on a
difficult maths problem or just want to play an exciting game in your free time? The
internet offers us a world in which we can find anything we need and is only a few
clicks away.
But is it all so innocent?
We will be:
● Looking at what online safety is and why it is important. We will also receive some
good advice from Aunty Em.
● Reading an online magazine article that will give us some more information about
online safety.
● Writing our own online magazine articles in which we give students advice about
how to stay safe online.
Some important information to know before you start your
next lesson:
Think of some online dangers you know of. What advice would you give other
teenagers when using social media? You can make a list of these in your notebook to
help you during the lesson.
Look at the different bullet points. Match each bullet point to either ‘organisational’
features or ‘stylistic’ features.
Review: Lesson 1
Make sure you know the meaning of the following words
that we used in Lesson 1:
● Text Type
● Audience
● Purpose
