I was hired by Stefansson to take an expedition for ‘Lost Continent’. I had no idea if it existed or not.
Nevertheless, I disagree with him to take Karluk, she was not suitable for this type of expedition.
Eventually, I had to agree. The ship itself was made of wood and the hull could not withstand heavy
icebergs. At first, I was impressed with Stefansson with his charming appearance though he was silver-
tongued. I was disappointed with how he cared little for crews and also, the crews claimed to be
scientists.

It was a foolish decision to be crammed inside the small space in the ship. Stefansson was the kind of
person to be greedy and only pursued fame. I had no idea if the ship was near the imaginary lost continent
but so far as I knew, we were nowhere near it. The crews had little to no experience in which they spent
the time entertaining themselves. As far as I can tell, they had a strange feeling that something bad was
marching on our journey.

The hull had been pierced by the ice. The crew shook with fear, my anxiety had come true, our fate would
be sealed forever. That Stefansson was a cunning man, I had fallen into his trap, and he might be planning
to escape the ship. Soon enough, the ship will begin to sink. However, the worse thing is being outside of
the ship which was cold and inadequate supplies. Nevertheless, I must search for resident to stay in,
otherwise no one would know the truth about the ship.

It was a wonderful day to begin with. I was hired by a man named Stefansson who appeared to be
charming and ambitious. Little did I know, he hired the ‘scientists’ as crews for expedition. Moreover, I
could not agree with him to take on Karluk as she was retired wooden-fishing-ship, an unsuitable type for
expedition however, it was useless to talk to him. I was convinced that there was ‘Lost Continent’ in the
South pole. However, I was certain that the crews had little to no experience and had low morales which
implied that they pretended to be excited.

Stefansson’s behaviors were contrary from his appearance in which he was silver-tongued. There was no
‘Lost continent’, the ship was being surrounded by ice and we were crammed in the small space inside the
ship. On the crew’s faces, they seemed to miss their loved ones and now they are in the middle of
nowhere and also entertaining themselves. The ship was trapped by the ice however, Stefansson became
impatient for not reaching at his destination. After a bit of recall, my anxiety had grown day by day and it
was obvious that the crews were not interested in expedition.

A storm might be on its way. As thunder roared, I heard the ice breaking the hull. Stefansson clearly gave
an excuse for hunting, but he might be escaping from the ship. I was disappointed with him, such a
bastard. In all of fairness, I would have to deal with the coldness, being present outside of the ship and no
food which would mean starvation. Furthermore, I must find shelter for warmth and other lost crews after
I had ordered them to abandon the ship. It would be a difficult decision as I had no choice but to venture
outside.
