WRITE AND EXPLAIN THE BASIC TERMS OF SPECIAL NEEDS SUCH AS IMPAIRMENT, DISABILITY, HANDICAP,
INCLUSION, EXCLUSION, INTEGRATION, BARRIER, SEGREGATION, AND RESOURCE ROOM2.

 Impairment: A physical or mental condition that limits a person's movements, senses, or activities.
It is the absence of particular body part or organ2.Examples include vision impairment, hearing
impairment, intellectual impairment, etc.
 Disability: It is restrictions or lack of ability (result from impairment)to perform an activity in a
manner or with range of considered normal for a human being. A physical or mental condition that
substantially limits one or more major life activities. It can be physical, sensory, cognitive,
intellectual, mental illness, chronic diseases, etc.
 Handicap: A physical or attitudinal constraint that is imposed upon a person, regardless of whether
that person has a disabilityThey are created by the environment or attitudes of others. For example,
stairs are a handicap for someone in a wheelchair.handicapism is a social and environmental
construct.
 Inclusion: The practice of educating students with disabilities in general education classrooms
alongside their non-disabled peers. It aims to provide all students with a sense of belonging and
community.
 Exclusion: The act of preventing a person from participating in an activity or accessing an
environment due to their disability. It often occurs due to inaccessible facilities or discriminatory
attitudes.
 Integration: The process of bringing people with disabilities into society or an educational setting.
It aims to provide opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in mainstream activities.
 Barrier: Any factor that prevents a person with a disability from fully participating in all aspects of
society. It can be physical, communication-related, attitudinal, or policy-related.
 Segregation: The practice of educating students with disabilities in separate classrooms or schools
away from their non-disabled peers It often occurs due to the belief that students with disabilities
require specialized instruction.
 Resource Room: A separate classroom within a school that provides specialized instruction and
support for students with disabilitiesStudents may receive instruction in the resource room for part
of the day and participate in general education classrooms for the rest of the day.

In summary, these terms describe the experiences and challenges faced by people with disabilities as they
navigate society and the education system. The goal is to promote inclusion, integration, and accessibility for
