Each second, when accumulate, can lead to change.

Time (as a whole) is the most valuable asset in

everyone’s life. For example, when we are experiencing a breakup, healing requires time. Time has
the power to make or break a person. However, time alone cannot give us what we want or need. We
must spend the time wisely in order to achieve what we want. In 2024, my personal goals are
studying efficiently and socialising. Along with personal goals, I hope that the world will move
towards peace, people will be more attentive, and certain aspects of the education system will
change.

To begin with, my goal is to begin studying efficiently by spending less time working. I never doubted
my studying techniques until a few days ago when my sister, who is at university, pointed out that I
spend too much time with studies as a pre-dp student. Later she explained that in university, you do
not have so much time and you have much more theory to learn. At first, what she said overwhelmed
me as I felt that I will fail as soon as I enter university due to the excessive amount of time I need to
study. However, later, I realised that excessive studying is not a requirement, but merely a habit. A
habit that can be changed if it is turned into a goal. Hence, this year I have begun researching and
adapting to new study techniques to stop prioritising studying over other equally essential things in
life such as spending time with my family.

Secondly being educated about university life, I no longer wished to study further. The decision was
not due to a fixed mindset but rather due to the lifestyle in university. Personally, I love learning
new things, however being pressured with work to that extent felt morally wrong. The current
education system needs to take into account students’ well-being as we have been always indirectly
taught to prioritize school over health. To illustrate, today in biology, we learnt how medicines treat
certain diseases but over time can also damage our liver. That reminded me of the talk with the nurse
where she was telling me about taking medicines to cope with the stress of school if required.
Medicines that one should stay away from unless needed for chronic diseases. I still can’t get over the
idea that professionals don’t look in depth at the education system to find the cause of stress instead
of prescribed medicines to students. Therefore, I wish that professionals work together globally to
make a healthy education system where learning and health is both equally prioritised.
