Course Description
This course covers background and development of production management, plus current
concepts and controls applicable to production management functions processes to assist
continuous improvement.

Course Objectives
The course acquaints students with the broad concepts of product management. After finishing
the course, the student understands central principles and contents of product management.
Student knows the basics of product portfolio management and understands the ways to analyze
products business case. A student learns to see product management as an organizational
lifecycle function that focus managing all products and related actions in all product lifecycle
phases. The student can apply the learned things and methods in different industries in order to
develop systematic product management.

Learning outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course students should able to:
 Explain the concept of production and operations management as applied in production
systems.
 Understand the historical development of production management, current trends of
production management, inter-grating productions management with information
technology.
 Establish the most economic path in the production systems i.e., via critical path analysis.
