ELECTRIC POTENTIAL AND CAPACITANCE

CLASS - XII

1. Two Point charges q1 = 10x10 -8 c, q2 = -2 x10 -8 c, are separated by 60cm in air.

(i) find at what distance from the first charge q1 would the electric potential be zero.
(ii)Also calculate the electrostatic potential energy of the system.
2. A point charge Q is placed at O as shown figure. Is the potential difference (VA - VB) is
positive, negative or zero. If Q is
(i) positive
(ii) negative

3. Calculate the work done to dissociate three point charges at the vertices of a triangle as
shown figure. r= 0.3 m and charges are -4q, q and 2q at A,Band C.

4. 3 point charges - q,Q and -q are placed at the equal distance on a straight line if total
energy of the system of three charges is zero, then what is the ratio Q:q ?

5. Obtain expression for the electric potential at any point due to an electric dipole. Write
the expression if point of observation lies on the axial line on the dipole and the
equatorial line of the dipole.
6. Write and explain various properties of equipotential surfaces.
7. Discuss the behaviour of a conductor in an electrostatic field, explain any five properties
.
