Duration 1 hr Max marks:25

General Instructions:
i. This question paper consists of 12 questions
ii. All questions are compulsory.
iii. Section A Question 1-6 carry 1 mark each
iv. Section B Question 7,8 carry 2 marks each
v.Section C Question 9,10 carry 3 marks each
vi.Section D Question 11 carries 5 marks
vii.Section E Question 12 carries 4 marks
Section A

1. For which value(s) of p ,will the lines represented by the following pair of linear equations
be parallel

2. One equation of a pair of dependent linear equations is –5x + 7y = 2. The second

equation can be
a) 10x+14y +4 = 0
b) –10x –14y+ 4 = 0
c) –10x+14y + 4 = 0
(d) 10x – 14y = –4

3. If the system of equations 3x+y =1 and (2k-1)x +(k-1)y =2k+1 is inconsistent, then k =
(a) -1 (b) 0 (c) 1 (d) 2

4. A fraction becomes 4 when 1 is added to both the numerator and denominator and it
becomes 7 when 1 is subtracted from both the numerator and denominator. The
numerator of the given fraction is
(a) 2 (b) 3 (c) 5 (d) 15

5.
6. The points (7,2) and (-1,0) line on a line
a. 7y=3x-7
b. 4y=x+1
c. y=7x+7
d. x=4y+1

Section B
7. For what values of k will the following pair of linear equations have infinitely many
solutions?
kx + 3y – (k – 3) = 0
12x + ky – k = 0

8. In the figure, ABCDE is a pentagon with BE||CD and BC||DE. BC is

perpendicular to CD. AB= 5cm, AE=5cm, BE= 7cm, BC= x-y and CD=
x+y. If the perimeter of ABCDE is 27cm. find the value of x and y,
given x, y ≠ 0.

Section C
9. Anuj had some chocolates, and he divided them into two lots A and B.
He sold the first lot at the rate of ₹2 for 3 chocolates and the second lot at the rate of ₹1
per chocolate, and got a total of ₹400. If he had sold the first lot at the rate of ₹1 per
chocolate, and the second lot at the rate of ₹4 for 5 chocolates, his total collection would
have been ₹460. Find the total number of chocolates he had.

10. The sum of a two-digit number and the number obtained by reversing the digits is 66. If
the digits of the number differ by 2, find the number. How many such numbers are there?

Section D
11. Find the ratio of the areas of two triangles formed by the lines representing the equation
2x+y=6 and 2x -y+2=0 with the x axis and the lines with y axis.

Section E
12. A test consists of ‘True’ or ‘False’ questions. One mark is awarded for every correct
answer while ¼ mark is deducted for every wrong answer. A student knew answers to
some of the questions. Rest of the questions he attempted by guessing. He answered
120 questions and got 90 marks.
a. If answer to all questions he attempted by guessing were wrong, then how many
questions did he answer correctly?
b. How many questions did he guess?
c. If answer to all questions he attempted by guessing were wrong and answered 80
correctly, then how many marks he got?
d. If answer to all questions he attempted by guessing were wrong, then how many
questions answered correctly to score 95 marks?
