COURSE OBJECTIVES
The Course aims to:
The objective of the course would be to help better understand Cognos TM1 as enterprise-planning and
budgeting software that can radically transform the entire planning cycle, from target setting and budget
rollout all the way to reporting, analysis and re-forecasting.

COURSE OUTCOMES

CO1 To Discuss the model development process and Review tools to aid in model development

CO2 To Evaluate Financial Performance Management, use of Cognos TM1, Import Data to develop
Objects, develop and Customize Dimensions& Cubes

CO3 Use of MDX queries in TM1, integrate with Cognos BI and contribute and administrate to
Planning Applications.

CO4 To apply logics how to share data across cube and create complete model and use additional
modeling techniques in TM1

To evaluate about Customize Business Rules, SKIPCHECK, FEEDERS, Creation of

CO5 applications in TM1 and to develop model data using architecture and integrate TM1 with
Cognos BI.

Unit-1 Basics of Planning Analytics Hours:

Create and Customize Construct a new cube, Cube properties, Edit a cube structure, Review and use a pick list, Create
Cubes cube calculations;

Identify data sources, create processes to load data, create a process to delete data in a cube,
Import Data Create processes to update and maintain the model

Share Data Across Cubes

Types of links, Create and modify links, Review rule- and process-based links;

Rule, automatically generated rules, Rule Blocks, Disable &Enable auto-generated rules, Manual
Customize Business Rules Rules;

1. Creation of new server and manage model: Perform lab session to

understand the working of IBM Cognos TM1 Performance Modeler, to
create a new server and manage model list.
2. Create and customize dimensions, cubes and import data: Perform lab
session to create new dimension, time dimension, attributes and subsets,
dimension calculations, to create cubes and views, edit structure of cube,
create and use pick list, to load data to a cube and create a process to delete
and save data in cube.
3. Share data across cube with links and complete model: Perform lab session
to establish links between two cubes and create lookup link, to create a sales
plan measure dimension, the expense cube and income statement accounts.
