ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

To the most gracious and loving Father, Almighty God, the researchers are forever

grateful for the provision, strength, and guidance that helped them finish this Capstone. The

researchers are beyond thankful for the Lord for without Him, nothing would be possible. The

researcher would also like to thank the following persons that made this entire Capstone Project

possible:

To the Capstone Project Adviser, Mr. Gracia Rodel B. Deloria, for sharing his

knowledge and expertise in the field of research that made the researchers make a full-blown

research of their own and for extending his patience and kindness to the researchers. Big thanks

to him!

To the researcher’s mentor, Mr. Roland P. Banua, for sharing his knowledge and

expertise in the field of Shielded Metal Arc Wielding (SMAW) and furniture making and for

lending the researchers his time and effort just to aid them in this Capstone.

To the SMAW students of Mr. Roland P. Banua, for aiding the researchers’ mentor for

the finishing touches of the Capstone and for willingly applying their skills.

To Chuy-Chuy Hardware and Wielding Shop, for making the skeleton of the chair and

for making the ideas of the researchers come to life.

ABSTRACT

Title of the Study: “Pungkuanan para sa Imong Kahaswayan”: A Multi-Purpose Ergonomic

Chair for Students

Author: Gerome T. Adapon

The main purpose of this Capstone Project is to aid in classroom organization as well as

to provide comfortability to students that will help foster better learning experience in a

classroom environment. The researchers devised a multi-purpose ergonomic chair that innovates

the existing chair designs of classrooms today. The multi-purpose ergonomic chair has rotating

or twistable armrest designed for both left-handed and right-handed students. It also has 360

degrees rotating seat that promotes movement in the classroom setting. Furthermore, the chair

also has two built-in drawers for the storage of the school belongings of students and cushion

seats that are made up of recycled plastics. The overall quality of the project is satisfactory. It

promotes environmental sustainability as it uses materials that are not harmful to the

environment and it utilizes used plastics to help preserve the environment. The overall cost in
iv

making the multi-purpose ergonomic chair is almost the same as the costs of school armchairs in

online stores. However, these chairs have only minimal features compared to the multi-purpose

ergonomic chair.
