Earthquake

An earthquake is a natural disaster that happens when two blocks of the earth slip past one
another. This slip is called ‘fault’ or ‘fault plane’. Major layer of the earth slowly moves
around. They sometimes, slip past one another and ever bump into each other. Earth shakes
when there is an earthquake because while the edges of fault are stuck together, rest of the
blocks are moving, the energy will cause the blocks to slip past one another being stored up.
But when earthquake happens, edges of fault are unstacked and stored up energy gets
released. Earthquakes are recorded by instrument called seismographs that creates
seismogram. Scientist use the seismogram made on seismographs at the surface of the
earth to determine how large the earthquake was. If weather does affect occurrence
earthquake, we do not yet understand how it works.
