RAMESH AND GARGI

SUMMARY:
In the provided article, Ramesh Sharma, the head of Learning and Development(L&D)
at Chrysalis Pharmaceuticals, experiences a mix of emotions as he faces challenges within the
organization. Ramesh was handpicked by the company’s CEO, Raman Murthy, and Vice
President of HR, Kamla Saxena. The actual problem for Ramesh begun when a new team
member, Gargi, is introduced without his prior knowledge, and her role appears to overlap with
his responsibilities. Communication and transparency issue arise, as Ramesh feels left out of
important decisions and initiatives. Gargi’s presence disrupts team dynamics, and some members
seem draw to her. Gargi expresses a preference for specific responsibilities and work life
balance. Gargi’s hard work leads to Chrysalis being recognized in the “Great Place to Work”
survey, with special mention of its diversity and inclusion practices. Due to this Gargi’s sudden
success in very less time, Ramesh feels discomfort. He feels uncomfortable seeing her at the
celebratory dinner, and her involvement in discussions about her potential expanded role within
the organization adds to his unease.

Kamla is surprised to receive a call from a colleague inquiring about Ramesh’s job
search. She is deeply disturbed by the revelation and feels betrayed by Ramesh. The article
concludes with Ramesh submitting his resignation to Kamla, thanking her for their partnership
and indicating his intension to meet with her to discuss the transition of responsibilities.

In summary, the article highlights issues related to communication, team dynamics,

favoritism, and leadership challenges within Chrysalis Pharmaceuticals, ultimately lending
Ramesh’s unexpected resignation and Kamla’s shock and disappointment.
