VALUES INTEGRATION Mathematics is important; it helps to solve some real-world
problems. (This topic is adding an act wherein you apply the good
values that they should apply.)
SKILLS Enhance the ability of the learners to relate the topic in solving
real-world problems.
III. LEARNING METHODOLOGY/PROCEDURE

LESSON PROCEDURE TEACHER’S ACTIVITY LEARNER’S ACTIVITY

A. INTRODUCTION (PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES)

GREETINGS Good morning class Good morning Sir

Please arrange your seats properly and kindly pick
up the papers below your chairs.
PRAYER Who is assign to lead the prayer for today? Student: Me Sir,

Ok, lead the prayer. Student:

Classmates please stand and
let us pray.
(the students stand-up)
In the name of the Father . .
CHECKING OF Who is absent for today? Nothing Sir,
ATTENDANCE
CHECKING OF Did I give you an assignment last time? No Sir,
ASSIGNMENT
Ok, let’s move on…

B. MOTIVATION AND REVIEW

Class? What is Circle?

Student:
A circle is a set of all points
in a plane which are a given
distance r from a given
point on the plane.

Yes, Very Good!

The fixed point A is called the center of the circle,

and r is the radius.

A circle is named after its center.

C. LESSON PROPER

ACTIVITY/IES A chord is a segment joining two points on a

circle.

A is the center of the circle.

BE, CE, CD, BC is all form of arc.

A minor arc is an arc smaller than a semicircle. A

chord, a central angle or inscribe angle may divide
a circle into two arcs. The larger of the two arcs is
called the major arc. The measure of a major arc
is the difference between 360 and the measure of
its related minor arc.

For Example:

Name 4 minor arcs

1. Arc BE
2. Arc BD
3. Arc CD
4. Arc EC

Name 3 major arcs

1. Arc BCE
2. Arc BCD
3. Arc CBD
ANALYSIS A central angle of a circle is an angle whose
vertex is the center of the circle. The measure of a
central angle is equal to the measure of its
intercepted arc.

In the figure ‫ے‬PZQ, ‫ے‬QZR, and ‫ے‬RZP are

central angles.

For Example:

Name 2 central angles.

1. ‫ے‬BAD
2. ‫ے‬CAD
ABSTRACTION An inscribed angle is an angle with its vertex on
the circle and its sides contains the end points of a
chord. The measure of an inscribed angle is one
half the measure of its intercepted arc.

The circle with center circle has the inscribed

angle ‫ے‬ABC. The other end points than the
vertex, A and C define the intercepted arc AC of
the circle.
The measure of an inscribed angle is half the
measure of the intercepted arc.
m‫ے‬ABC = ½ m‫ے‬AOC

For Example:

Name the arc in which ‫ے‬x is inscribed. Arc CE

Name the arc which ‫ے‬y intercepts. Arc BC
Name the angle inscribed in arc DCB. ‫ے‬BCD
Name the arc which ‫ے‬ECD intercepts. Arc DE
Name the angle inscribed in arc BDE. ‫ے‬BCE

APPLICATION

If m‫ے‬CAD = 120, find the following:

Measure of arc CD = ?
 The measure of a central angle is equal to
the measure of its intercepted arc.
 m‫ے‬CAD = measure of arc CD
 measure of arc is 120
Students:
m‫ے‬DAB = ? m‫ے‬DAB = ?
 The degree measure
of a semicircle is
180.
 m‫ے‬DAB = 180 – m
‫ے‬CAD
 m‫ے‬DAB = 180 –
120
 m‫ے‬DAB = 60
m‫ے‬DCB = 300

What is measure of arc BEC?

 A semicircle is associated with half of a
rotation which is 1800.

Measure of arc BEC = 180

 If measure of arc CD = 140, find m‫ے‬z.
 M‫ے‬z = 20

D. SUMMARY

 A chord is defined as a line segment whose

two extremities are points located on the
circumference of the same circle. The
chord of a circle. The endpoints of a chord
can be located anywhere over a
circumference.
 An arc is a smooth curve joining two
endpoints. In general, an arc is one of the
portions of a circle. It is basically a part of
the circumference of a circle. Arc is a part
of a curve.
 A central angle is the angle that forms
when two radii meet at the center of a
circle. Remember that a vertex is the point
where two lines meet to form an angle. A
central angle's vertex will always be the
center point of a circle.

IV. ASSESSMENT TASK

A. Indicate whether each statement is True or False
1. All radii of a circle are congruent.
2. A radius is a chord of circle.
3. A line may intersect a circle at exactly one point.
4. A chord is not a diameter.
5. All radii have the same measure
V. ASSIGNMENT
