1. PURPOSE
The purpose of this specification is to define the characteristics to be met by the AC and
DC Panelboards for the Camisea Project.
Also all those elements not expressly indicated in this specification but which are necessary
for a correct operation of the equipment will form part of the supply.
It is understood that definitions given herewith point the objectives aimed but not the way
of achieving them, the latter being the sole responsibility of the manufacturer.
Also part of the supply will be the number of copies required of all documentation
(drawings, instructions, manuals, etc.) which is necessary for the installation, start-up,
operation and maintenance of this equipment.
The vendor will give a detail of the deviations his proposal may contain respect the
requirements of this specification and will prepare for this purpose, a list of such deviations
indicating reasons for the same.
The vendor will indicate the characteristics of the material offered and for this purpose will
fill in all copies of the data sheets that have been attached, adding, in a separate sheet, all
other information he may consider necessary to mention.
3. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Panelboards shall be fully enclosed, dead front and tightly secured hinged access door.
Iron and steel part of enclosing cases, walls, and barriers, all springs and other parts upon
which intended mechanical operation may depend, and sheet steel parts of fastening
devices shall be fabricated of stainless steel or shall be protected against rust.
Panelboards shall be constructed to provide strength and rigidity in order that it will keep
its shape and that doors will close tightly.
Cabinet shall be protected against corrosion and shall provide minimum gutter space and
wiring space in accordance with NEMA PB1-6.6 Cabinets, Gutters, and Wiring Space.
Switchboard shall be provided with Type 2 enclosure as specified in NEMA 250.
All component that requires renewal, replacement or adjustment under condition of use
shall be accessible without the exposure of live parts or wiring.
Panelboards shall be constructed so that no uninsulated live part will be exposure from the
front to contact by the operator during intended operation.
Marking of Panelborads shall be in full accordance with NEMA PB1-6.1 Marking
Information and NFPA 70-384.13 Panelboards - General.
To make the user aware of immediate or potential hazards each Panelboards shall be
marked on the trim or deadfront shield in accordance with NEMA PB1-3.11 Precautionary
Labels.
Ampacity, short-circuit capability, breakers size, number of phases and number of wires of
Panelboards shall be according One Line Diagram.
All wire shall be synthetic heat resistant flame retarding, 600 V moisture resistant PVC
insulation, stranded soft cooper conductor.
Wire shall be located or protected to prevent contact with any sharp edge, burr, fin, or
moving part that can damage the conductor insulation. Bending of a factory-installed
conductor shall not result in damage to the conductor insulation.
Minimum Panelboard spacing shall be in full accordance with NEMA PB1-6.4.1 Spacings.
Panelboards there shall be provision for grounding its enclosure. Panelboards shall include
a ground bus to bond the equipment grounding terminal.
Magnetic contactors for lighting purposes shall be according NEMA ICS 2 Part 7 Magnetic
Lighting Contactors.
Miscellaneous components like pushbuttons, selector switches, indicating lights and
terminal blocks shall be in accordance with NEMA ICS 5 and NEMA ICS 4.
