LITERARY ELEMENTS

CHARACTERS - the people (sometimes animals or ideas) portrayed by the


actors/actresses in the play.
PLOT -plot refers to the action :basic storyline of the play.
THEMES - themes refers to the meaning of the play.theme is the main idea or lesson
to be learned from the play.
DIALOUGUES - this refers to the words written by the playwright and spoken by the
characters in the play.
AUDIENCE - this is the group of people who watch the play.Many playwrights and
actors consider it to be the most important element of drama.

TECHNICAL ELEMENTS

SCENERY (SET) - the theatrical equipment,such as curtains,flats,backdrops or


platfroms,used in dramatic production to communicate environment.
COSTUMES - these refers to the clothing and accessories worn by actors to portray
character and period.
LIGHTS - lights elements means the every placement,intensify,and color of the
lights have to be set as needed to helf communicate environment, mood or feeling.
SOUNDS - the effects an audience hears during performance to communicate
character,context or environment.

PERFORMANCE ELEMENTS

ACTING - it is use of face,body ,and voice to portray character.


CHARACTER MOTIVATION - the reason or reasons for a character’s
behavior ,incentive or unducement for further action for a character in drama.
EMPATHY - it is the capacity to relate to the other feeling of another.

CYBER POETRY - it is the other term for hyper poetry.
BLOG - it is an online journal or informational website displaying information in the

Basic Elements of Poetry


1. Line – Is a unit of writing into which a poem or play is divided: literally, a single row
of text.
2. Stanza – Often described as the main building block of a poem. A unit of poem
composed of lines.
3. Rhythm – It can be described as the beat and pace of a poem.
4. Meter – A unit of rhythm in poetry, the pattern of the beats.
5. Rhyme – It is the repetition of identical or similar concluding syllables in different
words.
Free Verse Poem – poems without rhyme.
6. Rhyme Scheme – The pattern of rhyme at the end of each line is called the rhyme
scheme.
7. Theme – It is the underlying message that the writer or artist wants to convey.
8. Mood – The mood refers to the atmosphere that is prevalent in the poem. The
feeling evoked from the reader while reading the poem.
9. Tone – It is the poet’s attitude toward the poem’s speaker, reader, subject matter,
as interpreted by the reader. The writer’s feelings on the subject he/she is
writing.
