INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIAL Charts
BEHAVIOURAL OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, the students should be able
to:
a) Define Soil fertility.
b) Name the characteristics of soil fertility.

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE The students are familiar with the term Soil
INTRODUCTION The teacher introduces the lesson by asking the
students questions that warrant mentioning Soil
fertility. e.g.
 What is soil fertility?
 State the characteristics of soil.
PRESENTATION
STEP 1: The Teacher gives definitions of Soil as:

Soil is said to be fertile if it contains all plants food in the


right proportions.

STEP II: The teacher tasks students to mention the


characteristics of soil fertility:

 It is rich in nutrient.
 It contains soil organic matter.
 If it contains adequate minerals.
 Etc.

EVALUATION The teacher evaluates the lesson by asking the


student’s the following questions:
1) What is soil fertility?
2) List 3 causes of soil fertility loss.
3) List 4 ways of making soil fertile.

CONCLUSION The teacher concludes the lesson by quickly


summarizing the main points/ideas of the lesson.
HOME WORK Explain two (2) characteristics of soil fertility.
