4.3 Disassembly for Base Transmission

Disassemble as follows:
1. Park the vehicle on a level surface, shut down the engine, and set the parking brake. Chock the tires.

CAUTION
ELECTRICAL SHOCK
To avoid injury from electrical shock, use care when connecting battery cables. The magnetic switch
studs are at battery voltage.
2. Disconnect the batteries at the negative post, including the batteries for the auxiliary HVAC, if equipped.
3. Remove the transmission. Refer to section "Removal of the Transmission" .
4. Remove the chassis harness connector (2) and transmission harness connectors (1) from the Transmission
Control Module (TCM) (3).

5. Remove the air pressure sensor harness connector (4).

6. Remove the air pressure adapter assembly from the shift controller housing (6).
7. Disconnect the air harness from the shift controller.

9. Remove the shift controller, first by lifting it up until the gate actuator is unhooked, then out.

10. On the outside of the bell housing pass-through, disconnect the transmission harness (1) from the Clutch
Actuator connector (2). Remove the pass-through retaining clip (3).

4.4 Reassembly for Base Transmission

Reassemble as follows:

NOTICE
Before installing the shift controller, make sure the split position pushrod is in the
retracted position as shown below. The split pushrod sensor may break if the shift
controller is installed with the splitter extended.

1. Inspect the surface facing the seal and hang a new seal on the controller alignment dowels.

2. Apply thread locker/sealant to the three forward, shift controller bolts. Install the bolts into the shift controller
housing.

3. With the gate actuator fully extended, raise the controller into position, move it against the transmission,
then down, to hook the gate actuator onto the lever.
4. Tighten the shift controller bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb·ft ).
5. Install the transmission harness connector to the TCM.
6. Connect the air harness to the shift controller.
7. Install the air pressure adapter bolt with the sensor. Tighten the bolt to 70 N·m (52 lb·ft ).
8. Install the oil temperature sensor harness connector.
9. Install the air pressure sensor harness connector.
10. Lubricate the clutch actuator O-ring with grease.
Note : If the clutch actuator is not fully collapsed, it will be difficult to mate the bell housing to the engine.
11. Install the clutch actuator loosely. Collapse the actuator (refer to position B), then torque the mounting bolts
to 55 N·m (40 lb·ft).

12. Insert the pass-through connector (2), and then install the retaining clip (3). Reconnect the transmission
harness connector (1).

13. Install the transmission. Refer to section "Installation of the Transmission" .

14. Connect the chassis wire harness to the TCM, and secure the harness.
15. Install the air supply connection on the shift controller. Tighten the fitting 40 to 47 N·m (30 to 35 lb·ft).

CAUTION
ELECTRICAL SHOCK
To avoid injury from electrical shock, use care when connecting battery cables. The magnetic switch
studs are at battery voltage.
16. Connect the batteries.
17. Connect DiagnosticLink ; under the Actions drop down menu, perform the "Transmission Learn
Procedure".
