USG UPPER ABDOMEN

PROTOCOL: THIS REPORT IS BASED ON A STUDY PERFORMED ON HIGHEND PHILIPS AFFINITY 50G MACHINE USING CURVILINEAR / SUPERFICIAL
PROBES.

Clinical profile:- In a follow-up case of liver abscess.

Findings:-

The liver appears enlarged in size (measures ~15.8 cm) with normal shape and position. There is evidence
of well-defined heterogeneously hypoechoic lesion of size ~ 47 x 41 x 41 mm, vol. ~41.3 cc is seen in
segment II & III of left lobe of liver without internal vascularity - suggestive of Residual liver abscess
(liquefied contents) . No obvious rent seen. The intra hepatic biliary passages are not dilated.
The portal vein is normal in course and caliber.

The Gall Bladder is normal in size and has normal wall thickness with no evidence of calculi.
The CBD appears normal.

Pancreas is normal in size and echogenicity with distinct outline. No obvious focal lesion, calcification or ductal
dilatation is seen.

Spleen is normal in size (measures ~7.9 cm) and echogenicity. There is no evidence of collaterals.

Both Kidneys are normal in position, outline and echogenicity. No evidence of calculi or calyceal dilatation is seen
on either side.

There is no evidence of ascites.

Few subcentimeteric discrete mesenteric lymph nodes are seen with maintained fatty hila, largest measuring ~ 5.6 mm
in SAD - likely non-specific.

IMPRESSION : In a follow-up case of liver abscess, present scan shows:-

Residual liver abscess (liquefied contents) as detailed.
